Title: YANKS WIN! and Pace
Post by: Chuckles_the_Clown2 on May 03, 2005, 06:47:17 AM
Yanks shake up lineup. Defeat division adversary. Climb to 11-15.

One down, five to go.

Steinbrenner: \"Good Work Boys, when he comes to Belmont, team photos with the horse. And all the drinks are on me!\"

\"Zito is hopeful that Bellamy Road is not a need-the-lead type of horse. Zito believes the colt\'s last two workouts - including a five-furlong move Sunday in 1:00.42 - were good indicators that he will relax. (The prior workout was 1.02.3)

\"I think he will [rate], of course,\" Zito said\"

Biancone said that Spanish Chestnut did not handle the off track when he finished sixth in the Lane\'s End. Biancone said Spanish Chestnut came out of that race with a sore shin, which inhibited his training leading up to the Blue Grass, in which he also finished sixth.

\"He was not really ready to go a mile and an eighth,\" Biancone said. \"The horse you will see Saturday will be a better horse than you\'ve seen so far. I told you the same thing last year and my horse was better.\" - Well, is it just this poster or does anyone else think that if the horse wasnt really ready to go a mile and an eighth Bluegrass Day why did he?

\"To be honest with you, he\'s not worked like that for a long, long time,\" Biancone said. - As strange as it seems, Biancone seems credible on this and...This should be phrased like Joe Hirsh would phrase it. \"He will take a lot of beating and we think he is hickory\".

Apparently, Biancone is unaware of the anti rail bias his horse ran smack dab into the face of Bluegrass day.

No doubt that Torre will be fired if BR loses the Derby and desevedly so, having created bad karma for the Boss.

Title: Yankees Lose, the-uh-uh-uh Yankees Lose

Kevin Brown got lit up for seven in the first inning tonight as the Yanks fall to 11-16. Brown declined to speak to reporters after the game; hopefully he was busy breaking his useless right hand against a concrete wall.

Randy Johnson will miss his next start due to a groin strain, against his wishes.

Shipment of 47,000 Yankee caps somehow got jacked today. The caps were to be given away at Yankee Stadium this weekend. A hatless Hat Day at the Stadium on Saturday.

Trainer of Torre\'s Oaks filly gets 120 days forced vacation for various infractions including some drug positives. (Incidentally, Dutrow\'s enthusiastic endorsement of detention barns - the better to help the honest guys such as himself, he said - on our local OTB-TV racing show Saturday, was priceless in its disingenuousness. If he gets run out of racing he should get into politics. He\'d be a natural).

Bad karma in Yankeeland. At this rate, Sis City will run last in the Oaks at 3/5, and Bellamy Road will injure himself in a routine gallop Friday morning and wind up scratched.

The lowly Devil Rays have done the deed. They have knocked Bellamania out of the Derby winners circle.

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright.
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light.
And, somewhere men are laughing, and little children shout,

but there is no joy within the Bronx --
The Yankees have struck out.
