With the derby next week, nice time to build a little bankroll.
Anybody look at Keenland\'s 8th tomorrow. Looks to me like Formal Attire has a shot at a very nice price (8-1 ML).
Niigon and Go Now are both too slow and not usable in the exotics.
Ole Faunty is fast at his best, but currently off form. Possibly use in tri\'s but not on top.
Pies Prospect has a fast top, but his form is erratic and he is coming off an awful race. Use in exotics.
Alumni Hall and Best Minister are coming out of a fast race 19 days ago. It was a paired top for Alumni Hall and a new top for Best Minister. Off the new top and short rest, have to bet against Best Minister. Alumni Hall is more consistently fast and a must use in exotics.
Colonial Colony is fast and a key in the exotics. Has more rest than AH and BM and could be sitting on a good one. Think he might have a little traffic to overcome and not have as smooth a trip as Formal Attire, but must use in exotics.
Formal Attire ran a concealed new top in his last. Now gets 2 months rest by Biancone and his horses tend to fire fresh. If you look at his last three races since the trainer switch to Biancone, he has been involved in races with seriously fast paces. Wanderin Boy went 45.3, in the Sprint they went 43 and change. Formal Attire has more speed than current form shows and with the run into the first turn, Prado should get him in position either just off the lead on the rail, or possibly even on the lead. His top is slower than PP and AH, but he gets weight from both and could fire a big one fresh for Biancone. Think at a square price, he is the value play.
Jimbo,
To me, Colonial Colony looks like the obvious key in the race at anything close to the morning line.
Be careful with Pies Prospect, he is the classic xoxo type and almost always follows a poor effort with a good one. Also his last x was better than his prior x\'s so I think you definitely should use him in the exotics.
Good luck. I hope you hit it.
Chris
Jimbo, you\'re going to cash a bet !!!!! Remeber, you heard it here first.....
Derby 1592,
Colonial Colony does scare me and he is my \"second favorite\" horse in the race, which usually means he will win, my choice will finish 3rd and I won\'t have the exacta.... Pie\'s Prospect ran a -2 as a 3 year old, so he is certainly dangerous at his best. Hoping that his last is an indication that he doesn\'t like Keenland, he certainly wouldn\'t be the first..
Spa,
I hope you are right. And I will remember where I heard it..
There are only a few things worse than keying a 71-1 shot in the tri & missing 3rd by the shortest of noses because of what should go down as one of the worst rides in the history of racing. One is facing the same horse at long odds with the same rider in a spot where she might figure again. I heard through the grapvine that I wasn\'t the only one who keyed Water Gap on 4/16. What do you think of her chances today?
P.S. Since I\'m asking questions, has anybody heard of Sara Hamilton, the breeder, owner & trainer of Stable Talk in the 7th?
Also, it\'s just one man\'s opinion obviously, but the way this track has played throughout the meet, I would proceed very cautiously on FA in the Ben Ali Jimbo. His ability to finish at 9f appears very suspect.
Hello Mall,
\"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.\"
I guess I\'m insane...
Hope you finish up Kee on a high note.
Chris
Hey Mall, didn\'t catch your post until after the race, but I saw that Water Gap ran second behind a Pletcher horse. Nice Call, hope you cashed.
Let\'s get the money this weekend guys!!!!
Bull
In one way the result was the same, in that Shelly went wide around both turns & never gave the horse any kind of breather. Too bad for the horse that she has a 0% trainer & a 3% jockey, as she would have placed last time & won today. Still, I took enough out of the race to be back within striking distance, & at 1st glance tomorrow\'s card looks a lot better than most. High note here I come... hopefully.
Mall,
I guess sometimes it does pay to be a little insane in this game. Now if either the trainer or the rider would be just a wee bit saner...
Happy to hear you cashed.
Chris
