Title: Complexion of the Derby Changing
Post by: jimbo66 on April 23, 2005, 04:32:46 PM
It looks like the complexion of the Derby took a change today with the Lexington.  Rockport Harbor certainly won\'t run back in the Derby and even Lukas will have trouble running Going Wild back in the Derby.  If he does, he is worse ___ than I thought he was.

Suddenly this Derby that had the potential to have a ridiculously fast pace, is looking moderate to me.

Who are frontrunners?  High Limit?  Moderate speed, not likely to go 45 and change.  Consolidator?  Stalker.  Bandini and High Fly are stalkers.  That is it.  If Spanish Chestnut runs again (which would be stupid, unless his only reason is to be Tabor\'s rabbit), then he becomes the speed.

You might just see High LImit and Bellamy Road as the lone frontrunners.  And for those of us that have soured on High Limit after the Bluegrass, that is not a lot of competition for Bellamy Road.

Don\'t count out Rocky yet.  Servis is already making excuses!  I certainly hope he goes on the derby because he\'s a total toss in my mind.

Going Wild should not run in the Derby, the last two races say just that.

The early speed is dwindling.

Bellamy Road is going...going...gone.

its still a race with BR and HL...HL has more pace.......but an Eternal Prince event becomes more a possibility. If BR has to chase a horse hes done....if he can get to the lead I wouldn\'t bet against him.
