Title: Runaway Russy, Aqueduct 4th, April 9th
Post by: Chuckles_the_Clown2 on April 20, 2005, 11:16:16 AM
This was the only other 2 turn race on the card. It was 10 marks. Runaway Russy won by 2.5 lengths in

2.04.49

On March 11th he ran a similar race at Aqueduct against several of the same entries winning by 9 lengths in

2.04.15

He earned a TGraph 1 for that earlier race (Which was a 3 point Top).

In the Race on April 9th, the others all lowered Their March 11th final raw times with the exception of the winner and Region of Merit. Region of Merit lost 10 lengths on finishing positon to a horse that lost 6 lengths on finishing position and they were debateably the two most consistent TFig horses in the field. (Essentially for the winner, the track was faster, he was slower and the margin shrunk.) The third place finisher in the previous race with a Tgraph 7.1 finished 2.5 lengths back in second.

Several of the newcomers were coming in off much shorter races.

Theres no way to compare this race to the Wood. Its a complete toss and any pace figures calculated off of it are valueless. Like the Cheese in the song, the Wood stands alone.

I agree. Now compare the pace profile of the Florida Derby with the 1 1/8 minor stakes, run the race prior, won by the 4yo--EUROSILVER.

Good Luck,

It\'s no secret, any decent pace guy is going to have the early part of the Fla Derby quick.

I think the horse to watch is Greeley\'s Galaxy.  I\'m pretty anxious to see the TG number on this one if he gets in, I think Beyer underestimated this guy.  Of course, he has to get in the field first, but I think he probably will.
