Title: Preakness question for TG
Post by: Michael D. on May 19, 2002, 10:57:18 AM
Question for TG...........

Do you guys have Saturday\'s Pimlico strip slowing down over the course of the day? At first glange, WE\'s effort looks rather average, as a consistent \"4\" or \"5\" horse nearly ran him down in a slow 1:56.36. How heavy was the track by the 12th race? Also, do you think WE would have won by more if Espinoza was a bit more aggressive, it looked as though he had some gas in the tank at the end when Espinoza asked for run.
Any thoughts out there?

I was impressed with the race. WE ran the first 3/4 in about the same time as Snow Ridge earlier in the program and still had enough left to hold off all the late chargers. Was anybody gaining on him at the end (other than Magic Weisner)?

I think Proud Citizen ran the best race but lost it around the first turn.

I would guess that WE backed up to around a 1.5, PC paired up and MW moved forward to a 3 or a 3.5. Boy, what a buy he would have been. But, I\'m happy for Alberts.

War Emblem\'s stride is impressive. He just reaches out and pulls the track to him. He was quite eager to run. I must say, this horse does impress me, and you know that not many horses have impressed me since the crop of 1987.

Haven\'t done it yet, but between moisture, sun, and wind, I would be surprised if it stayed the same.
