Title: Question for JB
Post by: HP on April 13, 2005, 06:13:02 AM
JB,

I find your \"betting strategies\" very useful, but I\'m wondering if you can expand on this a little in terms of tris.

How do you play them?  When do you play them?  When to key?  When to box?  Supers are a bit much for me, but if you have any particular tri insights I would be interested.

Thanks, HP

JB,

I\'d like to expand it a little further to Pic3\'s and Pic 4\'s. When to spread and when to single if you even participate  and when to pass in these multi race bets. I\'ve made some nice scores here but got to decide on how many betting pools to have your $\'s has been my dilema.

HP-- Assume you are referring to the betting guidelines in the archives. Basically, the key part of that is to actually articulate  what it is you like about the race-- that usually makes your course of action clear, at least in general terms. I think as races come up here we can discuss them in these terms, even if it\'s retroactively. I\'m not going to be around, but this week\'s ROTW (Blue Grass) should lend itself to that nicely-- horses to bet on and against.

JB,

Okay.  Enjoy your trip!

NC Tony,

I\'ve pretty much given up on the multi-race bets.  My results were awful over time.

NoCar-- first of all, I\'m not an expert in multiple race bets (there are those who are). But my general feeling is that you still better be able to articulate why you are betting pick 3s or 4s, or you shouldn\'t be tying the results of one good bet to another. For me, that means I better be tossing favorites, but not focusing on one horse against them-- if I am, I should be betting to win.

I have had some success in the multiple race wagers ever since the Last Saratoga meet. had some really nice returns when able to eliminate a favorite in one of the pools with mid to long horses as pportnunites.

However this past weekend at Keeneland I focused exclusivly on those type bets to only get killed when hitting 3 of 4  or having the favorite win and not covering the investment, too many times and or not having anything when I could have had a win or exacta bet.

JB thanks for the advice. See you at Keeneland.
