Title: Channing Hill Redux
Post by: Chuckles_the_Clown2 on March 01, 2005, 11:38:41 AM
I don\'t like to jump to conclusions and am embarrassed when I sometimes do. (The reasons for Tapit\'s erratic Wood Memorial stretch drive for instance.) So considering I did not specifically note Channing Hill\'s rides over the weekend, I reviewed the charts for last week\'s rides.

I don\'t study these things anymore. I merely peruse and hope my Swiss Cheese mind takes it all in. I counted 3 wins for Hill. (Correct me if I\'m mistaken) One was a 30-1 bomb. Another was 8-1 and the last about 7-2. Anyone betting on Hill all week, undoubtedly made money, courtesy of the 30-1. Even with that horse he took the Marco Polo route. You know what I\'m talking about. The horse managed to pull it out at the end.

The consistent thing about Channing Hill is he generally takes all his mounts the Marco Polo route. When he gets one that for whatever reason is on top form, his bug and youthful strength help to carry the horse without looking like he\'s flailing away at the animal.

The alarming thing I noted was him failing on wide rides on 2nd and 3rd choices and the remarkable number that finished last.

This kid better improve fast.

Chuckles,

What makes this a great game is that you\'re allowed to voice your opion with your betting dollars (if you want). It\'s ironic that both DRF and NYRA both wrote articles about the kid doing well while you found the day (Sunday) where his mounts ran poorly. His full body of works don\'t show all over land routes as you say.

That\'s why we have Blue States and Red States. Good luck!!

Channing Hill couldn\'t find the shortest path back from the forest even if the Crows hadn\'t eaten all of Hanzel and Gretels bread crumbs.

The post that I made here titled \"WIDE\" was about Channing Hill. Essentially he got beat on a high odds horse that without an extra 5 length path would have won by 2.

Hills big winner Saturday got 7 pounds from the field. (All others carried 120) and Channing took the \"Nebraska Back 40\" route and someone still managed to get home that day in time.

He had the major bug and won just over 10%. Now its down to 5 lbs. Before its gone, I\"m anticipating his percentage to drop. And when the bug is gone, he\'ll be gone too. Its a nice human interest story, but that doesnt cash races. They wrote volumes about Prather too. The difference was she was winning the Turfway meets.

I\'ll still bet him in the right circumstances, but even light he\'s losing on out in front screaming monkey rides. Sometimes the Red States win, but in the end its about being right in the long haul.

I\'m beginning to see things your way regarding Channing Hill; in the article it said that it took him 3 days to drive from Nebraska to NYC; thats a trip that should have only taken 2 days. I guess the kid really doesn\'t know how to save ground.

Of course his percentage will drop when Prado, Velazquez, Castellano and the 2 retirees (Bailey and Santos) come back from the Gulf.

My point has kind of been that the bug is always good on the Inner Tube. It doesn\'t matter if his name is Vaz, or Betancourt, or Hill, or Gomez. Even when they are riding for \"Stuportrainers\", you leave them out of exotics and multiple race wagers at your own risk
