Title: Mullins admits to cheating
Post by: Saddlecloth on February 18, 2005, 10:14:29 AM
at least in a round about way.

\"You feed horses oats, hay and water and you\'re going to starve here,\"

I think thats all that needs to be said about the man and how he feels about the horses and the fans.
Title: Mullins sums it up pretty well

Actually, I think that Mullins pretty much sums up the current state of the game.

You now have 3 choices:

1) Cheat
2) Starve
3) Quit

A 4th choice is to make some big changes to clean up the sport and make option 1 a lot less appealing.

Yeah,

Its been pretty clear from the inception of this current crackdown that Mullins has made implicating statements. I didn\'t realize that Frankel threatened to leave S.Cal over detention barn impositions on positives. If what Delmar Deb said in regard to that is true, this whole thing may currently be as simple as who has the most effective shakes.

If everyone is forced to use horsemenship and time and breeding instead of enhancers, those that win may shift some from the juicers to those good with horses. Is that a bad thing?

Saddle, where did you obtain  that quote?

Title: Nothing Stops Dutrow

Yesterday, a winner off of a 20 month layoff. Today, 3 more winners, a layoff, and two closers on a track that regularly plays up close, inside. Amazing horsemanship!!!

>Amazing horsemanship!!!<

Whatever enhanced security, testing, and pressure exists in NY these days, it\'s  obviously not having an impact on him.

I wonder if Offlee Wild is going to come back with a new top. :-)

I was talking to a top NY trainer today, one who has been pretty successful despite competing against the move-up guys, and despite never having had a positive in 30 years. He liked my letter to the editor, but said he didn\'t know whether detention barns would be enough-- \"I don\'t know what the magic pill is\". He brought up the question of bronchial dilators that can be given 36 hours out-- but he did like the idea of freezing the samples.

Ok, if its bronchial dialators, thats Clenbuterol (sic?) and the like correct? There are thresholds for that. If its still an issue the thresholds have to be lowered or removed. If its a question of more time in detention needed, obviously you can\'t go so far as 72 hour detention barns. Theres just no room for it. I don\'t know what the answer is there. It seems to me the way to catch dialators is thresholds or lack thereof.

It was interesting see Dutrow get Offlee Wild going so fast after he acquired him.

OFFLEE WILD\'s second-off-a-layoff goodie to win the Mass. Hcap last year was downright Frankel-lian!

With everything else that is going on, now might be a pretty good time to try and clean up Racing without receiving too much bad publicity.

I saw Offlee Wild last month at Palm Meadows and was told \"he\'s so good right now its scary.\"

Bet against at your own risk...

When did I miss the connection between Dutrow and Allday?  Is Classic Endeavor the only horse that Dutrow has with Allday?

(see below excerpt)

Dutrow said the key to Classic Endeavor\'s resurgence was getting his
hind end repaired. In his first start for Dutrow, Classic Endeavor won
an optional claiming race on Sept. 29 at Belmont, but drifted out badly
in the stretch.
Dutrow said veterinarian Steve Allday treated the horse for some gluteal
muscle tears, and the horse has responded with back-to-back Beyer Speed
Figures of 104.
\"Dr. Allday found some gluteal muscle tears he had to treat, and I knew
he was going to be so much better,\" Dutrow said. \"That\'s where a horse
gets his power. I was feeling very good about his chances going into
both races, and I said it beforehand. When they get their hind end going
and they\'re training good in the morning, it\'ll show in the afternoon.\"

>When did I miss the connection between Dutrow and Allday?<

This is one topic I am in total agreement with everyone about.

There is absolutely no reason in the world for vet information to not be public so in can be included in the DRF. It\'s too huge a factor in evaluating the potential ups and downs of a trainer\'s record (and thus his horses) to be ignored. What good are my insights into a trainer if he switches vets and I don\'t know about it?

Allday has been Dutrow\'s vet for some time.  As I understand it, Frankel hooked Doc up with  Dutrow and he treats all the Dutrow horses.

I have no idea who deputizes for Allday in NY during the inner track meet as he spends most of his time at Palm Meadows where he\'s got quite a full book (Dutrow, Frankel, Pletcher, Romans, Margolis (though he\'s actually stabled at GP) Hough, etc.

I\'m not so certain it wasn\'t Dutrow introducing Frankel to Allday.

Years ago listening to the seminar tapes put out by Ragozin, Friedman went on and on about ole man Dutrow and how it was impossible to read any of his horses and strongly hinted of enhancements. This has continued ever since.
