Title: The Best Bred Horse in America
Post by: Chuckles_the_Clown2 on February 17, 2005, 08:57:52 AM
\"Big Top Cat\" is his name. He\'s a Storm Cat over a Mr. Prospector filly. Wednesday at Santa Anita he took on four rivals in his first two turn attempt. \"Cat Like\" he sprung from the gate, opened a quick lead and moved to the rail. His Hall of Fame trainer watched in restrained expectation as the horse leaned into the first turn and beat a genetic rhythm upon the ground with his hooves.

This day, he would run the complete oval for the first time and no horse would head him. The crowd confidently had backed him at the parimutual windows and he ran on the lead, as the favorite, according to their vision. For three consecutive quarters his family ties to Storm Cat and Golden Attraction pulled him toward destiny to the delight of the faithful. With the race nearly over, a sudden late challenge from a Touch Gold out of a Roanoake mare developed.

\"Oh! somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in Mudville – the mighty Storm Cat has run out.\"

Happily I was on the winner of that race, I think this horse has some talent but was wheeled back pretty quick, and why would lukas send a promising three year old in an allowance, not his forte\'.
