As someone who has come across as a Frank (Stronach) hater, I will do what I always do, \"Tell it like it is\". His latest idea Sunshine Millions is a quality day of racing with a slight Breeders Cup feel.
The event is held not at one top notch venue but two. There is considerable money being given out and because there are so many good Florida and Calif bred horses its not like its being given away to bums. The horsemen seen to have embraced it, then again put up big money and they will get there, and its also giving back to the respective breeders in those states.
With national television coverage, marching bands, girls in bikinis, its a \"Really Big Show\", to steal a line from Ed Sullivan. If he can get the attention of the national press, people who are suffering from withdrawls from not being able to bet on football and being unwilling to put the bankroll on whether some rat kid makes his freethrows, this could catch on.
When Frank first came around I said give him a chance he has new ideas, when he failed to deliver you read what I\'ve posted here before. The Sunshine Millions is a good idea and I applaude him.
Time to download the Special.
Marching Bands? No. Trumpet quartets at each track? Yes. Cast your vote now for a new catagory of Eclipse Award - the race track bugler!!!!! And the presenter will be none other than Damon Thayer........
SC: Sorry it took so long to respond to your earlier post, but being part of the support team for one of these contests is as exhausting as being in one. The Straight Dope is the title of a Q&A column which appears in the Chicago Reader, a free weekly, & is written by Cecil Adams, who has a cult-like group of followers who claim he is the smartest living person. Not sure about that, but he is one interesting dude who knows and/or can figure out an awful lot about an awful lot of things. He doesn\'t own a computer, or even a briefcase; he ties the stacks of papers which contain the results of experiments he designs together with pieces of string. I\'m pretty sure his columns are assembled in a book or two, which would be well worth reading if for no reason other than his answer to the young lady who kept pestering him to explain why he was of the opinion that performing a certain act on her boyfriend every day would not cause her to gain weight. You can get my current email address from Caitlin.
If you or anyone else has a strong opinion on any of the Million races, let it be known & I will be sure to give it careful consideration.

Are you sure your not talking about Derby 1592 now.
I will post some opinions in about a day, that\'s how long it takes me to print when I do it from home.
Actually I thought the reference to \"The Straight Dope\" was aimed at me, it has been an interesting week. But then I realized Mall you would be the last person to try and stir something up.
Say hello to that wife of yours, she\'s too good for you.
Its my town and I never heard of him. I sought out the publication and did some scanning. For smartest person in the world I\'m sticking with Derby1592.
