Front Page of the NY Post -- A One Rocket was Doped!
Here is the link but the story is already everywhere. Looks like something is really starting to happen finally -- lets keep the pressure up.....time for TJGB\'s suggestions re information to be adopted by the racing business to become realized!

As for Yente, I need to apologize as I have learned my post on this topic was misleading. I spoke with far greater authorities on yiddish language than me (both of my parents), and they both insist a yente is by definition a woman. I ran my nurse idea past them and they both rejected it. Their view is that the equivalent analogy should be something like hag which must be a woman (as well as having other characteristics).
SCM, just a note of thanks to you and twoshoes for getting this info on the board. I have posted the site onthe other board. Thanks again, raz
The people mentioned in the initial arrest have been long time ex harness people who have gravitated over to the runners. These guys are at the NY Tracks every day scheming and whispering around. I am CERTAIN they are small time compared to the names I heard yesterday(Leading trainer and his owners)to be questioned/indicted in the coming weeks.
I did not hear anything about other tracks but the article says this thing is National. To all the crooks who have \"beat\"us I can only hope they are barred for life and lose any ill gotten gains.I did hear \'RICO\' also which means financial forfeiture.

Thanks - First name that jumped off that roster to me was Sugar Punch. Trained by leading trainer and vetted by White Mercedes???
This may have legs.
Thanks fellas, for the info and link to the NY Post article.
It looks as though this scandal will rock the racing world to its core. While not of fan of Federal intervention in most things, this investigation is a long time coming.
Here\'s hoping they don\'t get bashful and go after ALL the guilty parties, whoever they might be.
asfufh, thanks for the site. Very interesting. I clicked on \"about us\" and found some very interesting photos for the dart board! The vet named is Hunt...? raz
Well, lets see what the Feds got before getting too optimistic. I don\'t quite understand RICO and they are still gonna have to tie the conspiracy to use of State Prohibited drugs in my estimation. But, this was a big operation and secrets can be hard to keep when you get too many involved.
Its time to write to the respective State Pari Mutual Agencies. Let them know what we want. I\'ll push for all of Jerry\'s ideas but at a minimum we need to have vet information.
I think we can anticipate many of Son of Leading trainers horses to take a vacation or not run as well. Lets see. I don\'t want to see him in jail and I\'m afraid of what a RICO charge could entail for these guys. I hope it opens their eyes, but assuming guys like \"Son\" are guilty, I\'d like to see a significant suspension and monitoring of their stalls/horses when they return as well as a hedge to the public like Jerry discussed.

Razzle don\'t you know that is not allowed over there. That Board is strictly for Marketing purposes only.
TGJB,
i think your recommendations are the only way to fix this problem. real smart guys rarely get caught when they cheat, and in this game, they will never get caught unless there is some way to freeze the samples taken from horses. the best vets will be ahead of the regulators 100% of the time. tougher standards and testing procecdures most likely will not catch the sharp ones. if this Allday guy and others mentioned here lately really are cheating (i don\'t know who is), the only way they will stop is if they know that what they are doing now will be examined down the road, when the guys chasing them and the testing technology have a chance to catch up.
>I think we can anticipate many of Son of Leading trainers horses to take a vacation or not run as well. <
I am very interested to see how many super trainers (and which ones) suddenly go bad.
yeah CH,
theres got to be a scare there. I didnt\' read anything directly implicating \"Son\". The biggest part of it appears to be gambling counts and social security fraud. But i gotta believe the cheaters are gonna be minding their p\'s and q\'s for a while. Not knowing is rough.
Now its there turn to sweat.
I plan on paying close attention to the performances of horses from certain barns. If two in a row disappoint, I\'ll start betting against them in otherwise marginal races.

My very strong suspicion is that if he\'s was guilty of anything, it\'s was not realizing that some nefarious characters were using his good name & excellent reputation to gain credibility. He\'s as hard-working & honest as the day is long, & has been for a very long time. Nothing I\'ve read suggests that he was involved in or knew what these characters were doing, so this is one time where you might want to exercise a little caution re what you say. It would be interesting to find out what exactly these characters were administering, as it seems very unlikely to have been a milkshake consisting of baking soda, sugar, & a sports drink, as reported in the not always reliable Daily News. Also, it\'s a little unclear how large, deductible gambling losses could be generated wagering offshore on fixed races. Perhaps some of the saps who ponied up $100k to join the fix club were being duped as well. It wouldn\'t be the 1st time that greed trumped common sense & good judgment, that\'s for sure.

IEA lists \"Son of Leading trainer\" as one of their trainers and he reportedly is using a vet other than Hunt Maybe this outfit required all horses to be vetted by Dr. Hunt. If the Federal investigation is going to charge doping they\'ll have to indict trainers and vets. To my knowledge only Martin has been indicted so far. I hope they have a bigger net. They\'ve implied they do, but you\'d think they\'d cast it simultaneously.
From the bio of the COO.
\"He cites an appearance in the winner\'s circle following a victory at Aqueduct by A One Rocket on Jan. 17, 2004, as a personal highlight since beginning his association with IEAH.\"
Used to be a Wall Streeter. Perfect.
luv your drool sense of humor obarra....theres no problem being an insider with knowledge...just dont be an insider influencing with that knowledge...lol
seriously, fed charges scare the hell outta me but they need some convictions here. I really anticipate that putting the safeguards in place makes huge sentences for doing what trainers have always done unjust. Frankel deserves 25 years as much as Martin. These guys are trying to earn a living, winning. If they tie Martin to betting in the syndicate go hard on him. But if hes gutting it out...comeon I know this is all premature, but i\'m so exited, I\'ve kinda had a feeling the juice issue was gonna be on the table..im actually celebrating tonight and i did not win.

Mall, I agree about the caution on the names. I think the light will shine in all the right corners soon enough. My guess about the tax losses is that those making the bets for a large group of others, were keeping the rebates to themselves(based on one of the many articles I read today). Thus, those who actually supplied the betting capital may have shown more losses? It seems, given the apparent free hand some of these bettors had through off-shore anonymous accounts, that there would have been any number of creative ways to make it work.
In any event, it\'s a banner day for elevating the issue of performance enhancers and rebate shops in this game. After reading so many stories in so many publications, it all has the feel of a boil that\'s been lanced and will be oozing for some time. raz
