You should all read the interview with Vic Conte (BALC0) in this week\'s edition of ESPN magazine.
It provides real insight into what some top athletes and their trainers are willing to do to reach the top of their sport and the pride that the \"chemist\" takes in their accomplishments (some did indeed use the chemicals very successfully).
To think that there are not Conte/Balcos at the highest levels in the racing world is pretty naive.
Maybe there should be an Eclipse Award for \"Chemist/Nutritionist\" of the Year...

Derby, I haven\'t read the article, yet, but appreciate the referral. I couldn\'t agree more about the \"Chemist of the Year.\"
As you may know, the process for getting a chemical combination to just the desired strength is called \"titration.\" My suggestion for an award category would be for \"Titra-iner of the Year\", rather than Trainer. It shifts the credit for the success to the syringe rather than any traditional training techniques.
Your point is well taken, if we\'re going to indulge such wide-spread use of this stuff, let\'s acknowledge it. raz
Titrainer. . .that\'s priceless
Raz-- also, the true love story you posted on the other board was great.
Titrainer of the year is Steve Allday. To suggest it\'s even a contest is to insult Allday\'s 2004 body of work (Ghostzapper, Midas Eyes, Peace Rules, Roses In May, St. Liam, Ashado, Speightstown, etc.)
I hear around the backstretch they refer to him as \"The Magic Man\" as in \"the magic man is coming around my barn later to make (fill in the blank) feel good.\"
Out with \"supertrainer\" and in with \"titrainer.\"
That one is definitely a keeper.
Chris
Allday is apparently proud of his \"accomplishments\" as well, if reports that he has filed patent applications covering certain of his titrations are to be believed. And those following the Balco story had to enjoy reading the results of the poll released yesterday that 76% believe Bonds was lying or probably lying when he testified that he did not knowingly take steriods. The other 24% presumably included all of the dentists who do not recommend that their patients chew sugarless gum. What I don\'t understand in this day & age is why no one has developed a performance enhancing drug for handicappers.
In any event, the reason for this post was not to add my two cents on this subject, but rather to wish you guys & your families a safe & happy holiday. Knock-em dead next Tues at Tampa.
No Contest on this crew being a winning Trifecta. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Guys.
Allday is probably the most powerful man in Racing, which is really pretty sad when you think about it. When Ghostzapper wins Horse of the Year that will be a least his second?
Who was the other ?
Mall-- to show you why this is the toughest city in the world, the Daily News ran the same poll, and 99% said he knew he was taking steroids.
You know, come to think of it, one of the first big/fast guys was Hershel Walker for Georgia in 1980 and he claimed that he got so big by eating hamburgers and doing 1000 push-ups/day. Well I try the 1000/push-up/day after I read the article and I actually stopped growing!!!!(of course if you\'re counting by 10\'s....)
Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. I know next year will definitely be more prosperous.
