Title: Quote Of The Year
Post by: TGJB on November 11, 2004, 01:14:08 PM
Check out the Hollypark racing secretary\'s quote about what they\'re going to do about milkshake testing results.

If CDI took as tough a stand on this as they did on those jocks we might be on to something. Absolutely unbelievable.

The secrecy that has been associated with all of this so-called stepped up recent testing over the last year is absolutely ridiculous.

A little fresh air is the best way to get rid of the stench. It\'s about time the industry opened some windows.

It is pretty bad when the racing OFFICIALS (ie the people that ought to be most concerned with exposing the wrong doing) are out and out saying they will cover it up.

Isn\'t it a federal crime to alter the outcome of a sporting event(horse racing). If someone uses milkshakes/blood dope doesn\'t that fall under the federal law.Shouldn\'t anyone caught and convicted at least be barred for life and maybe go to jail?

Right on Miff.  That\'s what mystifies me.  IT IS A CRIME (there are applicable laws against animal abuse as well as the ones you mention) and it\'s in the NEWSPAPER and the guy is QUOTED as saying he is going to actively obscure the results of the already lame internal investigation they will conduct.  Why aren\'t the police in his office now?  These guys operate on a plane that does not exist in ANY OTHER BUSINESS.  There have got to be some cops that read the Racing Form.  Maybe someone should send the police a copy of this article and ask them why they aren\'t doing anything about it.  Maybe Hollywood Park has its own laws and the LAPD aren\'t allowed in there.

A harness trainer was caught earlier this year and he was arrested. The name was Daniel Sheddan and just like Dutrow you could expect improvement from his horses when this guy claimed them. Here\'s one link

Just a thought to all of you who feel the same way I do about the drug stuff, and the keeping quiet of the positives-- if you really want to have a chance to effect a change, write a well thought out, coherent, angry, calm, letter to the editor of the DRF. I have been seen in those pages often enough (and am well known enough) to be seen as a member of the industry and not speaking for the fan base/bettors, or I would do so myself. I can work better directly with certain organizations and individuals, and I\'m doing what I can.

But you guys can get yourselves a podium. Do it.

Say there was some big break threw and alot of people got in trouble and maybe some went to jail, and was all over the news. Just think what that might do to the game, the big wigs might say and if money is rolling in they don\'t really care who is using.

Right?? anyone?? Everyone wants to play the good guy in this, when they really don\'t have any proof of what is really going on. It all goes back to what I said before, you think that CD or Bel really wants to crack down on all these so call super trainers and make their biz drop. Just like in baseball the owners does\'nt want to crack down on these players who might be using........why?? cause there bring in the fans which = $....thats it.

Agreed HP, its tantamount to the weasel guarding the henhouse. The trainers HAVE to run during these meets, why is Hollywood pussy footing around?
