Title: Stronach Election By-Product
Post by: HP on November 05, 2004, 05:15:29 AM
Florida voters approved a measure to allow Dade County and other relevant counties to have a referendum vote on whether to have slots in existing pari-mutuel facilities.  Of course in Florida this includes the dogs and the jai-lai joints but could have some impact on the tracks as well.  Magna had a press release about this, so I guess they are happy.  HP

nobody agrees with me on this, but i can\'t wait for january racing at GP. with the 1M turf oval and the 9f turf dirt course, i\'m guessing the racing with resemble saratoga racing (racing only, tradition and atmosphere will never be matched). seems they are having a bit of trouble getting the financing for the rest of the set-up though. still, i will gladly watch the best horses in the world run over the best new courses in the US while sitting in a tent.

Michael D,

No doubt Gulfstream has the best race meet of the winter.Do you know what the track will look like(Tent City). What do you know about the main track and the turf courses. I always go to GP a couple of times a year. Thanks

i think the courses are finished, saratoga style. much better suited for large fields. the BC at the end of oct at GP will be awsome. is it too late to dump mth? ..... as for the rest of the facility, last i read, it will be mostly tents for 2005. this new magna financing problem is not good news.

some quotes from tagg and zito: \"if anybody complains about these barns or the racetrack, i\'ll take 25 more stalls.... say what you want about stronach, but as far as i\'m concerned you won\'t find another racetrack owner who has committed the kind of money he has to provide the amenities he has provided for horsemen at gulfstream and palm palm meadows.\" .... and zito: \"for my money, the oklahoma training track at saratoga is the best surface for training a horse of any in the country, but what i\'ve seen here (GP) thus far, assuming nothing changes, this track has the potential eventually to be rated just as high.\" ......with all of the tents and some of the short term financing problams, i\'m expecting a bunch of problems this year, but i think we are looking at the future center of racing (probably in the world).
