Weather looks perfect. When I was there for Whitney Day there was a huge crowd but it wasnt or didnt feel crowded. There could be 10k-15k more Travers Day.
The FS1 crew I have to give Big Props to the Ladies on the set. They are smart, professional in their presentation and have done their homework. They can be your eyes and ears in the paddock or post parade. The guys on the set are fine. They have a big day on their plate Saturday
The undercard has a lot of full fields and the Grade Ones have 7-11 horses. Not counting the Travers. Both the attendance and handle will be near records. Give the fans a good product, treat them right, and they will certainly come back!!
Will there be aome kind of Seminar?
Yeah, there will be some kind of seminar.
Some kind of seminar is up on the site.
Yes I noticed. And since you didn\'t discuss The Personal Ensign I will. But no so much from a handicapping perspective because I\'m a Homer and a Fan
I just watched the 2024 Kentucky Oaks and I still get chills when they turn for home and its now crunch time and the girl delivered in cash green! They knew they had the goods and told everyone \"Bet Out\" and then sent her in the off conditions. You never forget those who laid it down for you. Kinda like Silver Charm.
These are Big Girls in this race. Leslies Rose ran a huge number last out. Randomized drew inside and has moved forward and has a couple of 0\'s sitting in her back PP\'s. One at this track. Dorth Vader ran a point faster than Randomized.
So it all gets back to is Anna ready to make that forward jump we have been expecting. A half interest in her for breeding has already been sold. There is this race, the Spinster and the Distaff again. Kenny has certainly made her accessible. She has nothing left to prove but she can prove more. Here is hoping she does on a day of Champions
I\'m going to go on record and declare we saw FOUR Champions yesterday. Now there are a lot more races still to go so nothing is final.
Book M Danno has to be Champion Sprinter. Those three Saratoga wins in dominating fashion are nearly enough. One more win, almost anywhere, seals it. Some broken down Baffert Sprinter (Hajiz, Speed Boat Beach) is not deserving with a one off win in the BC Sprint. Its also some redemption for Paco Lopez who started the year in the Dog House. Kept a low profile and and made amends.
The Ortiz Brothers. One of them will win Champion Jockey. And both rode until 11PM Friday at Charlestown and Irad was there riding at The Spa in the first at 11AM. Then winning the last at 7PM. Both stil focused, riding hard, and not making sloppy decisions. Pratt has Nysos and Sierra Leone so he wont be going quietly. Expect there to be a lot of frequent flyer miles between Pacific Claßic Day and Cigar Mile Day.
Sovereignty probably has the 3YO Champion in his grasp and staring at possibly Horse of the Year. But what if Journalism wins the Pacific Classic then whips him in the Breeders Cup? To be determined but good lord how did we get 8-1 on this horse Derby Day. We need them both back next year. Great for the game.
Thorpedo Anna. If she wins the Spinster Champion Older Filly is a lock. If she wins the Distaff AGAIN she is a Finalist for Horse of the Year. She won\'t win, but her Campaign and performance are worthy. And lets not start with a \"she is lucky the older mares are not super fast\". She keeps winning. She is running everywhere you are supposed to be. She was tired late yesterday, knew where the Wire was and lunged and snatched away the victory from near defeat.
Appreciate all the above while you are getting to see it. Collectively this is as good as it gets
Nysos is looking good. That Churchill Downs handicap is probably the key race of the year. If he gets the 10 furlongs next week, the Classic runs through him in my opinion.
