Title: 02X pattern- please revisit
Post by: Dudley2 on April 28, 2025, 10:00:05 AM
Hello TGraph experts- coming back here after a looooong layoff and need some sheet reading refreshers.

Please explain the 02X pattern- and IS Journalism a candidate for the bouncy bounce thereby? I recall it was a good race (neg. 0.5) followed by a race two points worse (1.5) and then kaboom!  Do I have that right? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Will provide an opinion:

0-2-x chances increase as the 3 races become more compact.  There is plenty of time/spacing here.  They also are more common in 6-8F horses than long distance routers.  And more common in older horses with established patterns/verified tops.

So the possibility of an 0-2-x here is lower than normal, some might argue much lower than normal.

With 2-3 yr olds, the more common problem is \"too fast too soon\" which has less to do with a pattern and more to do with a race that was too fast in the absolute sense.  Im sure TGJB will have a more detailed look at this in the seminar.

Thanks for your thoughts on that TreadHead. I do hope JB has some insights to share. 3yo\'s are so hard to nail down. I look at Journalism\'s development as healthy and normal for a top-shelf horse as he is. But a 5-point top from December to his Spring debut also begged the question (108 bsf too- down to 101 in the SAD)  But to your point- he\'s a young healthy specimen only making his 3rd start of his 3yo campaign. I respect him, but looking for the chinks in his armor. For the same money- I\'m on the Burnie bandwagon since the Holy Bull. Hope he remains ignored amid the other more popular runners.

3 yrs should be running tops, i see no reason he should not at least get back to that top, lots of rest, no excuse to me
