Title: Rodriguez!...Tappan Street...Neoequos and American Promise
Post by: T Severini on April 18, 2025, 10:21:12 PM
DRF says Madaket Road is going Pat Today Mile... and Citizen B.S. is working without blinkers!  Which means, (Factoring a fair break), Rodriguez has inherited the \"Keep East Avenue Honest\" assignment!

Tappan Street worked a 48.1, 1:02:1, 1:14:4, 1:28:4 (Cox was pleased... Tony says...meh )

Neoequos went 1:00:2, galloping out in 1:14:1 (Tony thinks this is a horse that is gonna make some money, maybe not in the Derby, but should make some.)

At O.P. American Promise was timed in 1:25.20 from the gate on Friday following splits of 22.00, 45.80, 57.80, and six furlongs in 1:11... \"Gulp!\"  Yowsa, Yowsa. Now Tony sees why Citizen B.S. is taking the blinkers off... He don\'t have that much gas!

He\'s moving like a tremendous machine!

Tappan Street worked over at Payson Park. Watch the work and let me know if you still think it\'s a \"meh.\"

Good Luck,

Title: He ain't no Clunk a Lunker

Jbelfior, am Kinda concerned about Tappan, because he\'s likely not gonna be an upper bracket play for me. Will see the level of bravery with the draw. (Hoping he draws way outside, if he does, will have some positive vibes... positive vibes.)

I did watch his work. He worked with Rapture. A horse pretty much buried in Virginia, by the horse whose workout was provided. Tappan is said to be a horse that has to be ridden hard. (Ridden hard and put away wet) He\'s a bit of Clunk a Lunker isn\'t he? I mean he kinda runs like Slew walked.

The works are very important. The works so far are light. (Lets see them at Churchill, so you can say the O.P. work I\'m enamored with is meh and arguing otherwise would be hypocritical.) It wasn\'t the time so much, it was the body movement. That horse ain\'t no clunk a lunker.

Hey T, don\'t know what to make of that work. The horse is going to be coming off a 7 week layoff.  He needed another race or a stiff work like that IMO.

The track in Virginia looked like it was a drag strip with the times they were producing for that weekend.
Bon Temps workout looks bad in the video because of the lengths that American Promise kept addding with each stride. They have BT going 59 and 3/5 for 5 panels out of the gate , which on paper is pretty good. Second fastest out of 13 at that distance and the only one out of the gate for 5/8ths .

Would of liked to seen another prep for American Promise to see if his form would hold against better rivals, but the way he won the VA derby and that work has me intrigued.

If American Promise doesn\'t bounce off that huge effort in Virginia,  and the seven weeks is enough time to recover from it, and Lukas can get him to improve off that race, he will be tough.
