What does that mean? Kent Sweazy said he is saddling their horses....hmmmm?
Lynch\'s entry, (Solid Left?) in the small Fountain of Youth field is a scratch. Wilkes is the 6/5 favorite meh. Could be there for the Garth Brooks show?
They go for an Australian Rugby Championship. Been doing it for 5 years. Otjer than Silent Heart none of their horses were live. Or they would have canceled out and been there. A good friend of mine Joe Anazalone of Magic Cap won that race with Fort Washington. He and Shug loved him and everyone bet out. Yes, there were a few losing saver exactas but nobody in the Winners Circle cared.
Had some Real Estate Development clients out there yesterday. And ask them to look out there and see a Race Track. And then look out there and see Real Estate Development land. They amiled from ear to ear. Nothing lasts forever. Even the Orange Bowl down here went away. Gulfstream can too if there is no plan. Saw Tom Brady out there and got a chance to briefly say hello and tell him to come back to Derby. So, for 24 hours, it was good for racing, and now reality sets back in. The Sport needs vision and people with Capital.
One question that needs to be answered is that access to wagering has never been bigger or better. Its still not perfect. But why isnt the Sport growing. We had that conversation at our table. Investors ask these questions before they out up real money. There is probably a segment of the industry who prefers they dont....
The sport\'s not growing because while wagering on horse racing is easier than ever before, 10 other forms of gambling that give much better returns also are easier to wager on than ever before, and people are choosing to spend their money on those forms of gambling.
It\'s extraordinarily simple, though extraordinarily hard to fix.
What other sports/gambling products provide a much better return than horse racing?
Good Luck,
Joe B.
I will say this about horse racing wagering regardless of its good and its bad. What other Sports Wagering provided opportunities to make 10-1, 20-1, 100-1 or even 1,000-1 in 2 minutes or less? Seriously? And before Prop Bets came in I would say next to none in other Sports
I probably bet less Pro Football this year than I have a long time. The Best Pros in Vegas hit 63% on their games 56% on Over Unders. At -$1.10 on juice guess what smuck you lose again. And every gsme comes down to a last minute drive that either results in a score or stop and you either win or lose. NBA? Lol. Bet. Go play 9 holes of golf come back home and see the last 5 minutes with a bunch of 38 year olds guys jacking up 3\'s to decide if you won a $100 or lost $110. Its TRASH!!
One last thing on Sports Betting with all these websites and betting sites why hasnt somebody gone to $1.05 in juice? Why has it stayed at $1.10 for ever? Any Betting site or Casino could corner the market if they went to $1.05. The Old Days of the Local Bookie he was the only game in town and had the odds and the action you could not find anywhere else. Plus he had Police Raid Risk.
Lastly my Off Shore outfit offers horses and nearly anything else you can imagine. But horse wagers have to be in 10mtp give or take. If the Site percieves it has to much risk I guess they could dump into the live pools and contribute to these late odds moves.
Lastly when we talk about Pro Sports Wagering. Its a multi multi Billion dollar Market. And the Teams themselves have nothing to do with it. For horse racing it does. Thats how they are suppposed to make money. I know it gets into viewership. But you wouLd think they get more creative. Just Sayin...
Horse racing is not only the greatest sport to grace this blue marble , but also the best form of gaming.
Is it the perceived risk in a sports wager? There is only one way to lose a sports bet. The other team needs to win or cover depending the wager.
There are a thousands of ways to lose a race, and I discover more ways the more I watch racing. Like how many times has the two finish line debacle occurred? Not to mention the stewards.
There is a barrier to entry also for new players. Without data they are at a huge disadvantage. Tracks all need to give free basic pp\'s for free. Especially when all the sports leagues do. Basically they are getting all the low hanging fruit.
But once people learn the pari mutual aspect, how to parse the data, get paid for being right, and the feeling you get when you are, they tend to keep playing.
How can something so special as this sport not be doing better is beyond me.
I have never been angry , even when losing, when at a racetrack or otb. It is the only place on earth that I can stop thinking about everything , and just clear your head and enjoy some good racing.
