With Mindframe moving 3 paths or more every time he is struck with the crop, why would you continue to use the crop? Add the ground loss on the turns, and the swerving from the crop, it has cost him two G1 races and probably the Eclipse award.
Dornoch is a nice horse, but he won those last two races just by saving ground and runing straight. I heard a rumor that Gargan wanted to scratch because of the one post. I thought it was a gift to get that post.
So why would Irad use the crop today?
Why would they want to scratch Dornoch because of the post?
I thought Dornoch would get a dream trip from that post, which he did, and that Irad would just give a vigorous hand ride , which he didn\'t and most likely lost him the race.
Does anyone else share that same logic and do you apply it to the figure a horse has ran and will run today.
Like the Travers coming up, if these top two comeback and with Sierra Leone in the field, does Dornoch win again with the same two variables, saving ground and running straight?
There might be a couple of other colts and a filly in that race.
Roman
Interesting tactics for sure.
Watched the replays a few times.
Mindframe got an ok trip until he decided to move outside.
Made a menacing move off the turn and appears to have even taken the lead momentarily.
Looks like Irad hit him right and left handed. And you are very correct, as he seems to react each time
Also think that Mindframe was bearing out. I suppose it could be the left handed stick or he was just a a tiring horse.
To me, Dornoch ran his race. Took pressure from Timberlake and went on.
Mindframe (grossly over bet at 4 to 5 ?) just looked like a tired horse bearing out. ( at least to me).
Interesting race that will debated if they all run back in Travers.
Beat of Luck to Torpedo. I know there are a few Tgenerates that will emptying their bank accounts on her is she goes in Travers. LOL
Was a lot to ask for a horse that ran his eyeballs out in the Belmont in his 3rd start just 5 weeks ago. They\'re not machines. I wouldn\'t touch him if he goes to the Travers.
Same with Dornoch. He\'s tough as nails but he\'s going to have to deal with a tougher group in the Travers than his last two. Sooner or later these efforts with him doing all the work are going to catch up.
Good Luck,
Joe B,
Tapit Trice will get a better figure than either Mindframe or Dornoch. Was light, but 5-wide all the way around in virtually the same time.
The Chad Brown Curlin winner will probably go. What to do with the filly , older females in the Personal Ensign, or the Travers against open 3 year olds. Can\'t see her keep beating the same bunch, even though that would be the easy route.
Fierceness also. Muth? Imagine if City of Troy came over for the Travers, Shaping up to be a great race.
In Mindframe\'s first two races, the crop was used once and he reacted the same way. Add that to a tiring horse who starts to lug in or out, the horse is covering a lot of ground laterally. Inexperienced also?
Agree about his odds, what on underlay.
And Dornoch seems to get no respect. Remsen / FOY / Belmont winner goes off at 3-1.
If the filly Thorpedo Anna does run in the Travers, she will be the favorite in my opinion,
And in regards to the filly, note that her sire , Fast Anna, and Fast Anna\'s dam , Dreaming of Anna, were bred and raced by Frank Calabrese , and trained by the Catman himself , Wayne Catalano, who won his 3000th race today qt Ellis Park.
Some hometown connections.
The extended family includes Justenuffheart, a half sister to Kitten\'s Joy.
Would love to see her on the turf, because she has a beautiful turf pedigree.

Muth worked 1:11 this weekend in company with Parenting. Maybe they both come to Saratoga.
Good Luck,
Joe B.
Speak Easy back racing on the Jim Dandy undercard. If he repeats his debut performance, I could see taking a shot.
Absolutely, if he romps, he goes, Batten Down will probably go also if he runs well Saturday. I think he wins the Jim Dandy.

Cutting back to 6f doesn’t look like a plan for the Travers. And they’re skipping the grade 2 200k Amsterdam, run on Friday, which would be a perfect prep for the 7f Jerkens on Travers day. Hard to tell what the goal is here.
I actually thought he ran well. He sat in a pocket which he had never done angled out and was wide and just didn\'t have enough. I\'m sure got the best figure but that doesn\'t count for the purse.
