Title: Preakness Archives
Post by: jbelfior on May 20, 2024, 05:46:01 AM
Tough day at the windows. Keyed Highland Chief in the turf stakes only to watch Jose Ruiz keep him on the inside where no one wanted to be. Also had a sizeable exacta box with the Derby winner and Catching Freedom.

For me the winner was a real head scratcher. Then I went back at the Preakness archives and here are some more \"where did that come from?\" over the past 20 years.

Tale of Verve, Bravazo, Everfast, Cherry Wine, Ride on Curlin, Shackleford, First Dude, Macho Again, Scrappy T.

As does a middle child, this middle jewel has its own unique personality. Something perhaps to consider in 3 weeks.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

I\'d take Bravazo off that list though. I had a big score that day thanks to The Coach and him. Bravazo had great turn of foot and had run a huge race way wide on all turns at the Derby finishing a sneaky 6th.

Shackleford shouldn\'t have been too much of a surprise, as he ran huge in the Derby (and in the Florida Derby, for that matter).  Held well for 4th after setting the pace.  The 2/3/4 horses at the half finished 11th or worse.

Oxbow had a similar Derby pace attendee profile as well..
