Title: Rather Big News

Belmont Stakes Will Move to Saratoga for 2024

\"The race will be part of a special session at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., from June 6 to 9, 2024, Gov. Kathy Hochul of New York announced Wednesday. It will include 23 stakes races, including the Belmont on June 8.\"

Guessing the Met Mile would be one of the 23 ... Met Mile & 1/8?

The Met Mile out of The Wilson Chute. Get used to The Belmont in Saratoga for probably 3 years. Make the O/U 2 1/2 years, I’d go over. If they can figure out a way to stay through till Labor Day, that could be 2025. Completely squeeze any novelty of Saratoga dry.

A question for the TG guru\'s. How many more Triple Crown winner\'s would ther have been if the Belmont Stakes was run and a mile and quarter. Smarty Jones is one.

So, if a horse wins all three Triple Crown races will he receive and asterix because the final leg was shortened

Sir Barton won The Belmont at 1 3/8 miles. The distance was moved around a few times.

Birdstone would have blown by him sooner at Saratoga.

Good Luck,

Totally agree with you. Smarty was overrated, won the derby with perfect trip in the slop. Lion Heart ran second in that derby and Smarty tracked him and won easily in the end. Both Birdstone and Tapit had horrible trips in that derby. Birdstone proved Belmont was no fluke as he easily won the Travers and Lion Heart set a slowish pace (49 1/5) for the half and ended up last by many.
