Title: Fair Odds: Ohio Derby
Post by: prist on June 22, 2023, 10:32:19 AM
Any opinions? Doesn\'t seem to be much of a betting race going off Thoro-Graph numbers.

TWO PHIL\'S appears formidable, but he\'ll be a short price.

I landed on BISHOPS BAY. He\'s just about as fast as PHIL, and should be a little better price.

I\'ll take a swing against the favorite at 2/1 and up.

Not the best field I\'ve seen, but you never know. One of these horses may show up at Royal Ascot next year. What, with CLASSIC CAUSEWAY doing so well out there. ;-)

I think they\'ll try TWO PHIL\'S on the turf at some point. Especially if he has a little hiccup on the dirt.

I\'m glad you brought our attention to this race. The first thing that caught my eye was the purse. $500K can that be correct? I haven\'t looked at anything other than the Equibase Entries found under the Stakes Tab but several horses from the hinterlands may not be tomato cans. Plus Thistledown has produced some unexpected winners.

Henry Q m/l 5/1 seems underlaid.
Agnellos Dream a local sprinter could wreck havoc with the early pace
Lord Miles Trained by Saffie to be or not to be? Looks to spoil a bet one way or the other.
Hayes Key passed everyone in his last with a dawdling pace -  make that my Key.

Two Phils - I can\'t imagine him not being pounded at the windows. Since the #\'s 1, 5 6 are hopeless. Leaving only five horses to fill out position(s) 2,3,4 in the super with Bishops Bay either 1st or second must be a hedge play somewhere.

Alert - Race #1 $5K claimers Rider - Joam Toledo, Trainer - Amy Sondej paid $32.20 to win 87/1 exacta.

So not all of the races will be chalky. C/B an exciting day i.e. bettable races BOTS??

Good Luck All!

Sadly an ankle injury has derailed Two Phil\'s for the year and possibly his career is over.
