Title: Breeders Cup Post Mortem
Post by: billk5300s on November 08, 2021, 09:33:01 AM
This Breeders Cup weekend destroyed my bankroll and I'm ready to take another break, perhaps a permanent one is in order.  I haven't done well wagering on major races for quite some time.  Sure, I've hit occasionally but I'm getting destroyed over the long haul.  You know why?  I can't beat Chad, or Bob, or Michael, or Robertino and I'm too stubborn to pass.  I know there are many others out there who feel the same way.  The patterns mean less than the smart money and therein lives the problem and nobody is in a hurry to do anything about it. Good Luck everyone!!!

You can always come back. Odds on there will be someone here to greet you.

The horse with the fastest figures, who was given a relatively easy lead.....was that really a surprise?

Given an easy lead and making the lead easily are two different things. 45 4/5 going 1 1/4 is not an easy lead.

Looking at the figs, I guess the only thing I can say is that at least the horses I bet on in the contest ran their races (modern games, included). Just hit the post one too many times and a little too much favoritism towards got stormy and a little less towards space blues, even with the killer post on GS. ... has anyone heard an explanation on Jackie\'s Warrior?

Point taken, but my underlying point was the horse was a pretty clear standout from a TG perspective.  While there may or may not be PEDs involved, this race doesn't really standout as a good example.

The Breeders Cup races are always tough. Most of the horses who get in have a fighting chance and there's a greater emphasis on post positions and trips, especially at a tight oval like Del Mar and especially on that turf course. There was some value to be had using the rail horses with tactical speed.

There weren't too many big surprises outside of Jackie's Warrior and the 45-1 Japanese bomb. All things considered I was satisfied with the results.

What really shakes my confidence are days like today at Aqueduct. Starting with the 35-1 shot bomb in the second things had to get better but they didn't. It put me in a hole and I kept on digging. One of the worst days I've ever had and it was a Thursday at the big A. It was a nice card just not a good day.

Just watching the replays, looked like a fun day. Real horse racing.

Speaking of truth in advertising, Hanger One in the 2nd, loomed 3 wide , and hung like a chandelier.
