Need some good karma, alive in the pick 6 to the 5 and 13!
Over 5 million in the pot, payouts ain’t great , but I’ll take. Played a $36 ticket with 2 singles. Anybody else get down on the pick 6 today?
Good Karma would have been including McCarthy right?
What about the 10 as a 3yo who ran in a very live race on debut? First time lasix today.
Good Luck.
I have the 4 horse on my pick 4 ticket. Wasn’t happy leaving him off the pick 6, didn’t have enough $ to add.
Nice call on Mcarthys horse. Should of , would of , could of put the 4 on the pick 6. Would have cost 18 more bucks
I\'m no betting expert as the Spa Backyard can confirm.
But in the future, if budget matters, put your budget all into one bet that includes your strongest opinions. (Your p4 ticket should have matched the last 4 legs of your pick 6 you couldn\'t afford is another way of saying this OR your p6 should have included that 4 and never should have played the p4). Playing the p4 ticket with a different horse was playing against yourself in some ways. With the p4 takeout so high at SA and the forced carryout creating lower takeout, put that extra money into the p6 only today.
Good job on Pick 4 handicapping wise (Guessing you could have had that another time or two if you only put your p6 budget into the p4 if too expensive for p6?). But again, the takeout says put that dough into the forceout p6 next time or the early p5 with the low takeout.
Keep after it. Good Luck.
Great advice, I usually play pick 3’s & 4’s , but the carryover with all the extra money pumped in the pool, thought I would give it a crack. Pick 6 ticket was identical to the pick 4 except for the 4 in the last leg.
Try to keep my budget to $50 a day, mostly on weekends, hence the need for red boarding, usually buy TG on the triple crown and bc races.
Playing this game for 30 plus years, you would think you’re betting strategy would grow, but wagering has always been my weak point. Never enough money. I always play a “mythical†ticket in which I play the way I would if I had a bigger bankroll and most of the time, if I invested 3-4 times my initial play, it seems that those mythical tickets hit more often than my real world plays, then you actually play your mythical ticket and loose. It’s hard to sustain losses on a small budget. Anyone else play a “what if I had more money†scenarios and keep track?
I find it most helpful in finding a race where the all button needs to be used and work backwards from there.
I loved splitting tickets with a friend when I had one. Surprised betting syndicates never took off, like a Myracehorse kind of deal. Like an exchange fund.
Twinspires Ticket Share is something friends of mine have done from time to time. I\'m surprised it isn\'t more popular. Worth looking at for what you are describing.
As for your budget issues, you don\'t need more money, you just need to make simpler wagers.
Either
1. Bet Win Ticket(s) On Your Strongest Opinions (maybe an exacta or double if opinion warrants) or
2. Save 4 weeks worth of budget for a $200 p3 or p4 ticket. If that means you have it multiple times that\'s ok. It isn\'t necessarily about spreading and covering esp with shrinking field sizes these days. But exotics means weathering losses. So playing only once a month as I describe probably loops you back to Choice 1 for the best bang for your buck and best chance to stay ahead.
Hope this helps. No one is perfect at this, not even close. It is about profiting.
I’ve tried the ticket share, but with no success. Going to refrain till the Belmont, maybe I’ll try to make a post and see if some members want to give it a go here with ticket share.
Is there a secret to the Pick 6? Never gave it much thought. One singles what one can and selects the combinations one has to. Losing is always a result of not enough combinations, but combinations are what kill ROI.
If Keepmeinmind gets past Medina Spirit, its Superfecta, but reducing combinations is always a primary tenet. Was it dumb? Considering the field, maybe. But one bets with a concept not combinations.
Watched a race yesterdaby at Santa Anita MSW with a Baffert Horse, American Admiral, 1.3 million yearling sale horse. Six horse field, he finished 3rd. Late start for a 3YO.
