I understand that the white box means no number could be generated for a race. But looking at Saturday\'s Belmont and Keeneland races there are a lot of white boxes. For instance, Belmont Race 4 PP9 (Simply the Best) & Belmont Race 6 PP3 (Public Sector) both ran their preps at Saratoga, a meet where I assumed most races get a figure. Same with Keeneland Saturday, a number of runners not getting figures for preps at CD and Ellis. I\'m not trying to prod, just honestly wondering why those runners wouldnt have gotten figures (particularly since their morning lines are relatively lower). Is it possible they will be added today or tomorrow? Thanks.
We\'ve been going back to fill in the blanks now that we have more data, but it\'s a gradual process. For lots of reasons (Covid, no Lasix for 2yos, weather, other things) there have been a lot of races this year that were hard to do anything with if you didn\'t want to guess. And not having figures for early 2yo races makes for less data to work with later.
I\'m glad someone raised this point (again). Ultimately, we understand and accept your explanation. Know, of course, that it\'s been frustrating seeing so many void boxes through the dog days of August and September.
Seems to me that Grade 1 races should be at the top of your queue to be filled in. And now comes UPSTRIKER in tomorrow\'s G1 Breeder\'s Futurity at Keeneland off his debut five weeks ago that has no figure assigned to it. He\'s a May foal from a trainer not known for 2 yo success. But FWIW he\'s got the best Beyer in the field. What are your thoughts about that effort, Jerry? Was it likely faster than a 10?
If I had to take stab it would be a 9, but there ain’t much to work with yet.
