Another big day at Churchill marred by a dead rail?

I guess I was watching different races today?

10 dirt races, 4 were won by horses 2/1 or less, 3,6,10,11
The 4th the 3 went Coast to Coast on the rail @ 7/2 2nd choice.
The 3rd was 1/2 exacta who both sat the fence and tipped out to pass the tiring speed in the stretch.
The 8th was a pace battle royal that collapsed.
1 & 2 were wide open maiden heats
The Oaks? Because Johnny V. Rode off the rail.... That’s news and Roger N. Just posted on an email string he was probably trying to avoid traffic....

Dirt, no way

Turf, I will hear arguments about.  Horses that cleared off seemed to be trying to avoid it, even early on in the races.  Somewhat common to have a bad rail there after a lot of rain (has happened a couple recent derby days, pretty sure).  But it will be drier tomorrow.
