Title: Spaaaaaa Time
Post by: FrankD. on July 15, 2020, 01:34:27 PM
In the midst of a global pandemic, one would never know that per The Presidents
“Press Conference” yesterday let’s do some Spaaaa.... WTF else is there to do?

Oklahoma looks more like October than July, many of the seasonal residents are here, quite a few non masked folks are wandering around Broadway. The Horse Shoe, Bailey’s and The Stadium are showing the races outside on big screens, Siro’s and the Trackside Grill are not opening this season. The Saratoga Hotel & Casino formerly known as Saratoga Harness is open for simulcasting, $10 admission. If you want to feel some local flavor? The Casino Hotel is advertising $125 a night deals, last year they were getting $600 on weekends.

The first condition book isn’t great, lots of maiden heats, count on 4 per day.
Kentucky horsemen stayed home so they wrote for what’s on the grounds predictably,
NY Bred heavy, turf sprints to draw full fields. Some weekday cards, especially later in the meet will be light I’m sure. It’s still the Spaaaaa and the stakes program will be very good.

Skipping the early part of the card tomorrow as the first is the Ouchie Derby and then you get to deal with a couple short priced Chad’s.

Late Pick 5:
6th: Nothing fancy, the logical fast horses, 8,9.If the Ward owned gelding comes off the bench after 2 years? I’ll play the pick 4.

7th: Nothing real fancy, a pair of chalks & a pair of moderate prices. 1,2,6,9
Even with Joel on the 6, no need to worry about being Rosario’d, Cancel was 7W on her in her last heat.🤫

The Schuylerville:
Some pretty good ones have won this one.

I think tomorrow we will see another one in Hidden Princess. The ease and professional way she coasted around a very loose leader in her debut showed me a lot. A Stonestreet private purchase after, to the Assman with a very impressive Oklahoma work. Not This Time May be the next hot stallion and I love the dams side of family, Miss Macy Sue by Trippi. Nothing classic but some good sprinters/milers should be on the way. NTT sprinted a TG 0 @ 2.
The 8 is a single here for me.
8/1,6 exacta’s. I like the rail Casse much more than the ML favorite one.

The Peter Pan:
A pretty ugly 3Yr old stake for July. The only one to run faster than a 5 did it with a 5W4W trip.....   2,4,6,7,8  pressing 2 & 4 who is moving forward enough to compete and will be loose on the engine.

10th: 1,2,6,8 pressing the 8 who is working strong, fast early, solid dam side grass family oh yeah and Irad.....

Good luck and maybe just maybe in the midst of a pandemic with nothing else to do?
This forum can get back to some meaningful capping discussions!

Re: The Schuylerville

Prior to the CD debut by HOPEFUL PRINCESS, her trainer at the time John Hancock was quoted as saying she was the best 2yo he had ever trained. Gutty win followed by private sale and transfer to new barn.

I didn\'t think the Casse chalk looked that good on paper myself but after reading some of Mark\'s comments, I think she might be the goods. She was bet down to 2/5 in the debut. Casse has been quoted as saying she is \"extremely special\" and \"doing things he has never seen a 2yo do\" The man has had some pretty nice 2yo\'s to compare.

Posting this after the fact,  but with 2yo, at 1/2 ,off a single win, elsewhere,  it behooves one to be skeptical.   Or at least bet that way.

Some money showed on the winner, not sure from what contingent.
