why study sheets, when all you have to do is play IRAD, PHENOMENAL
philywheel
Why? Because in Belmont\'s 10th today, Irad (w/Chad) was 3/2 in a MSW turfer and finished off the board. Hey, it happens. And the superfecta paid $8,000 for a dime!
did u have it?

Doesn\'t matter and not the point.
After phillywheel\'s post you would have an extremely nice day if all you did was follow his advice.
(Yeah, yeah, yeah - I know. Still, would it have killed JTC to post an attaboy?)
Toss IRAD at your own risk

Read Ghost Soldiers
Good read thanks for the suggestion.
Now back to your regular schedule program.
Read Steve Cauthen
Ty Wheel
Which version? Looks as though there are several different versions.
Enjoying reading lately, have not watched much TV lately.

Johnny:
Wheel may have been referring to \"The Kid\", by Pete Axthelm, the story of
Cauthen\'s Triple Crown win with Affirmed.
Also recommended \"Wild Ride\" by Ann Hagerdorn Auerbach, the story of how one man
single handedly bankrupted Calumet Farm. Determine for yourself if foul play was
involved in the death of Alydar.
In terms of individual racehorses, I really enjoyed \"The Kingmaker: How
Northern Dancer Founded a Racing Dynasty\". I do not recall if the author told of
\"The Shot Heard Round The World\", which was Doc Harthill administering LASIX to
Northern Dancer before the Derby years before LASIX was widely used (legally or
illegally).
Attaboy!

The Over/Under on the number of people that think this thread has outlived its usefulness, assuming it was useful in the first place...

0 for 8 with 2 DFLs and another one spot away from DFL.
This is the kind of thinking that makes for overlays on contenders.
DFL. Took me a sec to figure that out.
I remember last year there was a period where Castellano was winning all the grass stakes races, it made it difficult to bet those races, because the public started making Castellano\'s horse the favorite even when not deserved.
So While I agree that you should always be careful with Irad, you can get great value on faster horses, like yesterdays 7th race, Irad was on Chestertown, a nice 3 year old with only a maiden win to his credit, had run a top of 8 running up the track in a stake at fairgrounds, had a nice looking sheet, you even might say the horse showed he could even move forward off the 2 pt top, had some rest, etc. Only problem was that there were 3 horses in the race capable of running in the 3\'s (including the winner at $12.60 with Manny). Chestertown was 3-5/4-5 right up to post time and he went off at 6-5. To Irads credit he ran 2nd, but my point is only that as good as he is, even if he wins 34%,like the last 30 days, he doesn\'t win 66%, and you get better odds on the other contenders.
