Almost Breeders Cup quality. 7.5 straight hours of heavy T-Bred gambling and then parlay right in to the Hurricanes-Gators College game. (Take the Under)
Not sure what the rush is with Mitole but one could say if he wins he wins the Sprint Title. Shancelot drew the 1 hole. Does this mean they are sending? Dont answer. He is going 7 and probably just ran a Negative 7. Tacitus should not be 5/2. The risk proposition in a 12 horse field for a horse who invents ways to lose is more like 3-1 or 7/2. He has a good chance of winning. It\'s just a bad ML
Silver,
Already down big time on the under(47.5) of interstate renewal, Canes defense, New Coach, Gators not needing to show all their stuff to win. Let’s add in 75% chance of some significant rain Saturday night at whatever that stadiums name is this week..... It ain’t the Orange Bowl NO MORE😎
Watch the video of Tacitus work w/blinks, he will be less than 5/2 for sure.
No opinion on the heat yet here but he will be over bet.
I’m 80/20 to not be live on the grounds for Travers Day for the first time since 1973. Twice I have left before the actual running of the main event. Once I had to take my Mom to a party for a life long family friend, the 2nd was last years debacle of our chairs being confiscated and our spot taken away. I’m not real big on forgive and forget.....
My Grandfather Nino Battaglia first Travers was Man O’War in 1920, mine was 1973, 2 weeks after my first Spa visit to see Secretariat in the Whitney get beat by Onion. Between us we have been to 107 Travers Stakes. He had the same seats in section D on Wednesday & Saturday from the 20’s through the early 80’s. A New Years Eve tradition before going out was to mail in the request for Spa seats.
They could not be post marked before January 1st. I’m sure more than a few here remember those days!
Spa’s new schedule has been an unmitigated disaster this year....
Don’t believe NYRA propaganda on attendance and they stopped posting on-track handle. Overall handle is up. Attendance is VOODOO, over 12,000 season passes counted every day, I have one, been live 9 times, season seats are counted as well. Attendance starts at 14k or so every day. The place and town have been DEAD except for a few Friday nights and Saturdays. Sunday’s are a ghost town with the Monday dark day. Restaurants & Hotels are screaming, people that park cars on their lawns are crying, my buddy Doug who collects for Veterans outside the clubhouse entrance says their take is way down, even Angel my favorite men’s room attendant for 30 years or so is complaining “the joint is emptyâ€
Ok an FD rant about the good olde days shall be balanced with a Travers 150 sequence opinion for the first time in a long time.....
Still love the place but Klueless Kay’s legacy will be, he turned it into
Disney Land if your old or Disney World if your not!!!
$500 hotel rooms can’t be helping the attendance cause. Lodging this year is brutal. Normally I’d be up there 4-5 weekends. This year, 2 if I’m lucky. Would much prefer to send that money from the comfort of LRD...
Blue,
Most of the visiting back yard crew stay in Clifton Park, 20 minutes south for $200 per night. Adelphi is over $1,000 per night on weekends. OBSCENE for a bed and a shower....
Clifton Park... That is good to know! Thanks Frank!
I usually stay at whichever motel is within walking distance. Last year it was a bargain, this year I feel as though I’m paying “cheap†Nantucket prices.
In other words: \"Nobody goes there anymore; it\'s too crowded.\"
I will fly in for Travers Day from West coast on Friday. My second time at the SPA, the first was the Whitney Day Gun Runner toyed with the field. Flight got canceled had to land in Syracuse and rent the last car 5 minutes before the guys were leaving for home shutting down the airport. 3-hour drive under heavy rain etc. so was quite the I didn\'t bargain for adventure the first time around. Guess I don\'t learn my lessons :)
Is there a live seminar in the morning this time? Where do T-generates hang out in general? Good luck to all!
No live seminar. There\'s a toteboard behind the Mac and Cheese truck. Facing that, back up against where the horses walk by going to the paddock, you will find whatever part of the backyard crew wants to deal with the throngs sitting at picnic tables.
Last year, my 1st ever trip to Saratoga, I stayed at a Motel 6 in Schenectedy and drove up, about a 1-hour drive. Saved a ton of money. Added bonus - before Saratoga, I drove about the same distance west to Cooperstown. Altogether I paid $440 for 6 nights at the Motel 6.
Ken
Waterford inn , 20 min south, 70 a night out the door, for you solo guys looking to lay your head
