Some of you may remember Noble Indy who started last years triple crown chase @GP & FG like a house afire. Something went wrong in the Kentucky Derby and the following Belmont States & Dwyer were no better.
Trainer Todd \"patient\" Pletcher brought him back this spring @ GP, FG, & OP where he looked sound but no longer very fast.
Today the Repole Stable group moved the son of Take Charge Indy to the turf @ BEL and he ran nicely getting out finished by well rested solid allowance horse Lucullan late.
One to put on a watch list?
Yes, for sure. He ran fine in both turf starts, perhaps even improving some yesterday. The only thing is Pletcher runners don\'t tend to get much better with age, and usually what they run first or second back off a layoff is the limit. Could see him use his speed very effectively in some Saratoga allowance races for sure. He is what he is. I\'d play him with with an inside draw at the SPA where speed is often very good.
Back to the dirt is my guess. Running style fits better on that surface and two turf conditioners makes him dangerous going two turns.
Good Luck,
Joe B.
Nominated to The Forbidden Apple next Friday at Saratoga.
Would Todd wheel him right back?
