Title: Saez suspension
Post by: ajkreider on May 13, 2019, 08:16:55 AM
Gotta admit, this one was a bit of a surprise.

HRN story on Saez (https://www.horseracingnation.com/news/Maximum_Security_jockey_Saez_suspended_after_Kentucky_Derby_123)

I think sekrah is a steward.

What a BS suspension.....

CD stewards were too chicken poop to call an inquiry, never spoke to the rider whose horse was most bothered and now it’s CYA time. Whatever view anyone has about the DQ, pro or con? This suspension is totally unreasonable and unwarranted in anyone but sekrah’s eyes. After all he should have prevented the horse from changing leads.... BRILLIANT

There is not a jockey who ever sat on a horse that would tell you Saez did anything wrong. Most jocks and trainers have already come out and said he did everything he could to correct it ASAP.

More positive press coverage on the horizon while Nero continues to fiddle.

Incredible.....

Looking at the bright side, I assume Saez will appeal, and (absent settlement out of court) the stewards will be forced to answer some questions.

Video (https://www.horseracingnation.com/news/Watch_Will_video_exonerate_Maximum_Security_jockey_Saez_123)

The video his lawyer provided is a good watch.

I especially find it interesting about the deleted Tweet from Gaffalione.

The whole thing stinks of shit.

Interesting case made by that video ,that MS reacted to the impact of WOW\'s front legs.

That was always on the table.

I\'m not sure how the stewards would have been able to determine this from a normal viewing of the replay.

If, this is in fact what caused the veering out, then the DQ was a miscarriage. How to avoid it ? Not sure they could have.

The suspension seems absurd, given the evidence available now.

Saez intentionally drifted out and nearly took a half dozen or more horses to the ground, then he lied to everyone about what happened.

You\'re right.  I have no problem with this suspension.  This sport does not need 12-16 mammals scattered all over the track because of reckless riding in its premier television event.

A travesty. The stewards took down the wrong horse. And now they’re punishing the jockey to cover up their own mistake.

You must be possessed of race watching skills unmatched by 50 year veterans , to be able to tell that was deliberate.

Sekrah - how do you conclude he intentionally drifted out?
