Title: R.I.P. Richie
Post by: TGJB on February 08, 2019, 01:50:20 PM
Just got the word that original Ragozin/Thoro-Graph guy Richie Schwartz passed away. He was not only a highly successful gambler and world class bridge player, but one of the all time colorful characters. There may be more racetrack stories about Richie than anyone else in the modern era.

JB,

I never met the man but have heard several stories from you.The I had a good day and offer to pay for 2/3 of dinner with 3 in the party, the toll
both and running out of gas stories.

Miff told me one that takes the cake....Miff was going to get shut out downstairs in the Spa Clubhouse in a long line, he saw Richie and asked if he had a voucher?
Richie handed him a voucher, Mike went and made his bet in one of the machines, looked at the voucher before handing it back to Richie and it had 88k on it.....

Miff is still alive and well, GRUMPY as ever😎
