Riding sneaky good at GP. Starting to pick up mounts from a lot different trainers. 11% win percentage better than it looks since Jock is picking up mounts to get other mounts for a certain trainer here or there. Also main guy Father In Law Ian Wilkes off to a little slow start at GP.
Flat out out rode Irad Ortiz down stretch yesterday for Graham Motion. Expect him to be on a few live bombs as the meet goes on. Getting more respect
Hey silver - speaking of Landeros the kitten is running back Monday. She outworked mr. Cub last week. Not sure she can beat the Chad but expecting big run. So if u show might get another picture taken.
Thanks for this post, Silver. I hope you had that Graham Motion filly in the 8th at GP.
We crushed it. He loved this horse. He out rode those in the stretch again. Guy is not intimidated. More to come. Wilkes is sneaky quiet now and will warm up. Cant say exactly when. Maybe when return to Kentucky and purses are bigger
At 128-1 in the Holy Bull for Roman\'s underneath McPeek Landeros made no logical sense. Similar to what I\'ve been told my posts are on here. It\'s a shame that thinking when there was money to be made. Best to keep quiet...
I know you\'re not suggesting that the ride made the difference. The horse probably was the best in the race. If Landeros doesn\'t get him caught down inside, he wins.
If someone can explain that race, I\'m all ears. God knows what JB does with it.
I whiffed, but from a figs perspective, the race doesn\'t look that odd. Admittedly, the top 2 were slow going in and probably ran new tops, but both were also getting weight and saved ground. Based on my ground loss guesses, the favorite still got the best figure in the race by at least a point.
Followed Albarado\'s decision and used the other Romans horse. Not sure if he finished yet. Good luck figuring out that place. I\'m done with it.
Good Luck,
Joe B
They were indeed slow. The 2nd and 3rd slowesr tops. The winner was coming off a pair that was 9 points slower than the favorite - who had run his 3 times in a row. Garter had run his 5 times in a row. Either the top two jumped way up, or everyone else went back bigtime.
You are right. I just saw the Beyer (85) this morning. That is slower than I would have guessed based on just the TG data. I was guessing the top two improved their tops by around 3 points, which is not that big an improvement for young 3yos. The Beyer would suggest they just paired, and everyone else went back a lot.
The Timeform US analyst (David Aragona) suggested (before the race) that Harvey Wallbanger tended to run to the level of his competition (never out of the exacta) and thus could be faster than it appeared on paper (although Aragona preferred Epic Dreamer).
As for the favorite, I wonder how predictive his Remsen figure is. Remsen figures have a history of leading me down the wrong path. The Songandaprayer on his bottom side suggests that two turns is not going to be Maximus Mischief\'s forte.
Moose nice win with Kitten today. $22 isn\'t bad and Chris rode her great again. The guy is a weekly ATM with longshots after the $84 winner for Kimmel last week.
I didnt make it out there so I\'m not red boarding. I know morale was down after Cub got DQ\'d in feature after turn traffic. The fact that Landeros drifted 7 paths right to cut off Irad Ortiz on the winner tells you he isnt there to lose either. And as a Player or Owner it\'s what you want
Thanks silver. Mr. Cub dq was a major bummer but this helped sooth that wound.
You are spot on that Chris is riding in great form. Honor up should be very competitive this weekend at aqueduct but won’t be much of a price. Rusty, Peter ,
et al have some really nice horses this Spring. Watch out for Cassie’s dreamer at
Gulfstream in the next couple weeks she could be special.
12-1 Morning line on the Motion/Landeros entry in today\'s 9th at GP. I\'m not expecting anywhere near those odds.
Sad to say, something must have gone wrong with the horse.
