Title: Sham(e)
Post by: Tavasco on January 05, 2019, 04:36:58 PM
I assume many here had the Hollendorfer trained winner of the Sham stakes at Santa Anita today. That was the race that went oh no the #6 has no chance what is he doing way back there its only a mile race.

Meanwhile one of his (Gunmetal Gray) stablemates is carving out early fractions that the others can\'t match. I wonder if \"Big Money Mike\" had an inkling.

A shame for his backers, Coliseum (the 3/5 bad favorite) was nowhere apparently something or everything having gone wrong.

But my hero was the other Hollendorfer stablemate Popular Kid the winner of the previous race and a prerequisite to the $40 double.

Those fractions were nothing to write home about, and they finished in 1:39.  Your hero, a decent allowance horse, went more than a second quicker through the mile, and had another steenth to go while carrying more weight.

This was a bad race all around, and the favorite finished a city block behind.
