Coliseum edges competitors by seven. First race @ DMR today a gray son of Tapit was strangled for the first quarter mile by Joe Talamo so much in fact it looked like a neck crank from Cowboy Cerrone..
Then as competitors closed at him at the end of the turn he straighted out very professionally and ran off from stablemate Figure Eight 7F in 1:23.13.

Looks like Baffert is giving Talamo a big role here on more than a few horses. Is that an indication that Smith might be winding down or just an up and coming rider Baffert is going to use or something temporary or provisional? Good for Talamo. Always thought he was talented and smart, just terribly inconsistent and streaky. He seems to have matured though. Baffert never ceases to amaze me with these 2-3 year olds. Would anyone be surprised if he wins another triple crown? I certainly wouldn\'t. The edge he has on everyone else is mind-blowing. It\'s like another level of performance they can only dream about. Gives us something to be excited about during the winter.
