Really disappointed.  Was there notice?  It was a feature that made NYRA Bets appealing

I see no evidence of NYRA Pick 5 being \"discontinued\". The bet was available on
Saturday, but not available on Sunday, when Belmont card had nine races. NYRA pick
5 is only offered on days when 10 or more races are carded.

Today has 10 races and no NYRA Bets Pick 5

Thanks for the clarification BB. Wonder if the bet reappears it will be available
to all? Guess if I want to stay in the loop I have to \"follow\" Andy Serling.

Since no one of lowly poster status appears to be in the room where it happens, speculation of motivation will be rife, none of it favorable to NYRA, and not without some justification.  For some of us of a cynical bent (probably 99% of those who post here), blame will comfortably gravitate to those NYRA decisions-makers who will throw out the baby with the bathwater if they can\'t wring every last penny from a particular aspect of their operation, even at the expense of continued customer alienation.  Penny-wise, pound foolish decision-making, exhibit A.  Of course, there may be some straightforward, logistical explanation for this, independent of ill-advised decision-making, or legislative meddling, so it would behoove those in the know to offer clarification if they are privy to it.  The reality, as I see it, is that this will affect the NYRA Bets bottom line, because that\'s money that will not necessarily go to other wagers at NYRA tracks.  But, I could be wrong.

One issue of NYRABets I\'ve never understood is their inability to be in additional states. I\'m able to wager through their competition but not them. I want to take advantage of their partnership with Thorograph but they won\'t let me.

I believe they did this last year as well, no? I thought they stopped offering it during the late fall through Wood Day.

The NYRA late pick 5 WAS AVAILABLE even on 9 race cards.
I have no idea why it was discontinued without explanation.

They did.
It has been listed on NYRA site that the bet would run through October 6th. An extensive google search turned up nothing, not an article or press release as to why. I did uncover an article before last years Wood announcing it’s comeback.

https://www.nyra.com/aqueduct/news/nyra-bets-late-pick-5-returns-daily-beginning-wood-memorial-day

The handle on the bet was abysmal even on big stakes Saturday’s it could not come close to the early pick 5 pool that is open to all. On any given day the early pick 5 pool would be 3 to 4 times the NYRA/NY outlets only wager.

Six months of Aqueduct are around the corner with 5 horse fields and 8 race cards 3&4 days a week through a couple of those months, making it not very appealing.
Of course there is not a NYRA press release pending that you can look forward to months of non-betable garbage.....

I get the marketing attempt to build NYRA bets by offering it to their own customers and to an extent it did grow their site. The bet just was unavailable
In too many markets to churn a big handle IMHO.

The \"They\" is the state you live in. Not NYRA.

Frank, I get all that, but do you have any sense of the margins that would dictate the pros and cons in determining its availability.  The logic of what you\'re writing suggests there must be some kind of break even point in making it available.  For example, they continue to offer quinella wagering, but in today\'s 2nd, the pool barely crossed 4K.  I always assumed that it continued primarily because they forgot about it.

That is certainly not universally true (says a guy who lives in a state with ADWs and no NYRAbets).

My question is what state? For instance, NJ has ADWs but NJ residents cannot open accounts out of state nor can out of state ADWs take bets from NJ residents. So, NJ residents cannot open an account with NYRAbets or any other out-of-state ADW.
