Title: 94, I think
Post by: TGJB on September 04, 2018, 11:32:48 AM
Congratulations to Sol Kumin for the win of Mind Control in the GI Hopeful. That was the 94th (I think, possibly could be more) horse purchased after our recommendation that went on to win a stake for our clients.

I\'ve been involved with a lot of horses that finished first or second in stakes at Saratoga, but never with a 2yo, as far as I can remember, let alone in a GI.

A hearty Congratulations to all involved.

For obvious reasons, I understand this would never happen, but I would absolutely fascinated to see the list horses (at which point in their career) of which Jerry has recommended for purchase to his clients. I would also love to know the influence Jerry has on the game aside from handicapping, as I suspect it is way larger than I would have ever guessed.

Regardless, congrats Jerry.

I thought you were reporting the score of a round you played at Saratoga National. But, this is a pretty big deal, too.

Thanks! To the rabbit hole I go! Please feel free to share any others (to the extent JB is okay with it). ...

There is a list, not complete or current, in the Horseman section of this site.

I’m a bit embarrassed to say that I’ve never even bothered to click on this section of the website. Especially after extensively reading all the other learning information you provide.

Jerry, I promise you this, the second I make it as a hedge fund billionaire, you’re the first person I’m coming to. That said, I wouldn’t hold your breath on that outcome.

Student Council is the one that stands out to me from the list. Not because he was the fastest or made more or less but because I remember a specific detail about him. The Pacific Classic was on TV and the camera had gone behind the gate watching them load. The odds were on the screen and I saw the change when the bet on him appeared. That was the largest odds drop I\'ve ever seen on a race of that size in one tick. I knew then Thoro was getting paid.

Someday I\'d like to hear that story.

Student Council went off at 23-1 in that Pacific Classic, what were his odds before the big drop?

I tried to find the broadcast on Youtube but it only has the race from the gate - I noticed the drop when they were loading. I do not remember how much (12 years will do that). The ROTW for the race is still on this site as well.

I did a search on this forum and there were posts from 11 years ago (!) that said Student Council was 33-1 with 1 MTP and went off at 23-1.

Ahh, thank you!

Is 11 years long enough that we hear how well Thorograph did on that race? lol

Not third of the win pool in the Pacific Classic well, or anywhere close.
