Anyone know when they draw for Friday??
A quick check of the condition book shows that entries for opening day will be
drawn tomorrow, Tuesday.

Posted at Equibzse . . . nice-sized fields . . . alas, the nice grass route for older NW3OTHER didn\'t fill . . . among the saddening casualties of a halved foal crop . . .
Top,
You may be the eternal optimist “nice size fields†is indeed the highest compliment one could pay to this version of an opening day card.
3 maiden heats, 2 Stakes, that’s a typical Spa weekday card. The other 5 races are a 25K claimer, the bottom Spa level once upon a time, 2 straight NW2L & 2 glorified NW2L conditioned to NW 10& 13K other than once......
Gimme a break, they ran nothing but garbage the last week of Belmont and this is the best they could come up with for an opening day card?
Far and away the worst opening day card I’ve ever seen in 46 years. This is very disappointing.

I did a quick scan of Saratoga opening day class levels for the following years:
2000: 3 MSW, 4 Alw, 1 2yo filly stakes, 2 Clm (25k, 20k tags)
2005: 2 MSW, 3 Alw, 1 2yo colt stakes, 3 Clm (20k, 50k, 35k)
2010: 3 MSW, 2 Alw, 2 stakes (2yo filly; and James Marvin), 3 Clm (25k, 20k, 25k)
2015: 2 MSW, 1 MdnClm, 3 Alw or Alw/OC, 2 stakes (2yo filly and Lake George), 2 Clm (35k, 16k)
2018: 2 MSW, 1 MdnClm, 2 Alw, 2 stakes (2yo filly and Lake George), 3 Clm (25k, 40k, 40k)
I didn\'t take the time to look at NY bred races in those samples as that grouping has obviously proliferated since 2000. But overall the class levels are fairly even on that superficial level with a bit of a slip as time passes on.

Your assertion is the class levels are fairly even?
Without listing the conditions of the said races, you wasted your time.....
4 of the 5 races that I am bitching about are written for horses whom have never beat winners outside of state breds.

Sustaining during the six-days-a-week challenge is becoming more and more difficult in this era of shrinking foal crops.
Remain confident that the Friday/Saturday/Sunday stretches will remain cuts above the standard Thursday/Wednesday/Monday menus.
Continue to plan for NEXT weekend as my \'18 debut.
