So now that everyone has had a chance to use the pattern studies for a while-- comments?

I think they are very good.

There are three horses off the top of my head, that all paid between 15 and 20 dollars that I had with the help of the pattern information.

JB, I am having a hard time figuring out what is in the specific horse\'s info versus what is in the overall stats.
Perhaps it would help in understanding what the various data in the Pattern Studies represents if a \"schematic\" with reference numbers or \"balloons\" was developed that expained each piece of info (something like what the DRF provides to read their form).
I think this info has the potential to be a valuable edge....keep up the innovative work. Thanks, Asfufh

I am not sure I understand the question. I did write an overall explanation of the pattern stats when they first appeared, and it can be found as \"The Future Is Now\" on the home page-- maybe that will help.

As far as the TQ-- we definitely will not add Pattern Studies to the simulcast books, which are probably underpriced now (even with the price increase-- the proof of which is that no one bitched when we did it), and we want to establish the full sheets as the premium product, containing things the SB does not. I hear you about the TQ on line though, and when things settle down (maybe after Saratoga) we\'ll take a look at this. There are internal issues with this-- right now the same outputs can be used for the SB and on line products, and if we make changes it will add work and time during the production phase, which is fairly tight now. But remind me in September and we\'ll look at it.

JB, I was asking for a cheat sheet that recapped what the info making up the Pattern Studies represented but,ok, I read your explanation again(and again) and now think I understand what is being presented.
I\'m not sure if you can do this but one piece of info that may be useful is the average times between races for each of the non-horse specific stats (within the maximum spacing of 42 days) versus the horse specific average. For instance, it may be useful to know that the average time between races for the top and pair stat after a top, pair, pair, is (say) 28 days and 25 days respectively while the off and X stat is (say)16 and 14 days versus the specific horse\'s average coming into today\'s race of (say) 15 days.
As you might suspect ,evaluating race spacing is one of my most difficult handicapping problems.
