Title: new pattern stats
Post by: asfufh on July 16, 2004, 08:49:48 AM
JB, I\'m still trying to get my arms around the new pattern stats so I may be missing something here.
Anyway, one question I have has to do with the impact of \"trouble\" lines on the the overall stat results of a given pattern.
I\'m wondering if you have done any studies to determine if \"trouble\" indicators (T, tu,op+, etc) have any dramatic results on the overall percentages for tops, pairs, etc. for a given pattern. For instance, on a classic X,2,0 pattern if the \"O\" carries a \"trouble\" indicator does the resulting stats for tops, etc. change much? Thanks,Asfufh

As I said in my intro to the new stats, you still have to handicap. The studies are done under hot-house conditions-- no trainer changes, no significant distance changes, no layoffs, horses with a number of previous starts. These conditions usually don\'t apply to the horse you are looking at-- so you have to make adjustments.

Derby 1592, Catalin and others might have more comments.
