I can\'t wait to hear the explanation of this one.
To my eye... just one more example of incompetence. Like Ms. Tavasco says repeatedly - Ya just can\'t fix stupid.
On the other hand Hollendorfer is indomitable.
My humble opinion the 5 came out and hit the 1 costing him 2nd , watching it on TVG , the announcer said Prat told the stewards the his horse did come in a little, dont know why he would forward that info to the stewards, I think thats why the 3 came down, I thought something had to give and Plat BLEW IT by oening his mouth
Philywheel
Horse on the rail clearly came out before anything else happened. You can:
1-- Take him down.
2-- Take no action.
3-- MAYBE take down both of them.
But there is absolutely no argument for just taking down the outside horse. Period.
I agree with everything you say Jerry, But Pratt let the Stewards off the hook by saying his 3 came in , I thought the 5 hit the 1 who than hit the 3, the only action the stewards should have taken was to DQ the 5
rough game if you had the 3
Here\'s the explanation from one of the stewards and Baffert\'s reaction from Bloodhorse:
\"When I saw it live, I thought McKinzie might have been as guilty as Solomini, but when you look at it in slow motion, he didn\'t come out,\" said steward Tom Ward. \"We determined he didn\'t come off his path until after the contact between Solomini and Instilled Regard.\"
\"I didn\'t think there was going to be a change,\" Baffert said. \"(McKinzie) had a rough trip around the first turn and he got a little tired at the end. It\'s a long stretch and he hooked up with (Instilled Regard) early. Prat rode a great race just sitting behind them. Unfortunately (Solomini) will lay on horses in the lane and you have to be careful with him. Prat might have gotten a little over aggressive. It\'s really too bad they took him down. He was the better horse today.\"
