Did anyone notice the exotic payoffs for the Turf Sprint were a fraction of what they should be? Stormy Liberal payoffs in super, tri, exacta and pic 3s were more like a 15-1 shot by my calculations. Super paid about 1/3 what it should. Possibly he was just an overlay in the win pool at 30-1 but i think it smacks of a massive gamble. Thoughts?
Interestingly the second place runner was 13.9 - 1. Same owner and trainer. In the post-race interview the owner said \"I only bet Richard\'s Boy\".
Maybe in the win pool but in the other pools he might have bet each of the two equally.
Maybe it\'s just me, but regardless of what I might think my horse might do, I don\'t think I\'d jump in with both hands and feet in a 5F turf race with a large field, especially on a day when you have the world\'s best trainers having prepped their horses for the biggest stage in the game. Stormy Liberal ran back to the number he consistently ran earlier in the year, and did it off a layoff, pretty much like he did the year before. Richard\'s Boy ran the best number in the race, but he simply got back to the top, albeit on relatively short rest, he ran twice earlier in the year. It was close to a blanket finish. The horses were clearly ready to run at their top levels, but looking at the sheets of other horses that really guaranteed nothing unless a few others backed up, which they did. We\'re always looking for the boogeyman under the bed. Sometimes, it would be nice if our go-to response was to acknowledge good training efforts, particularly when there\'s nothing too extraordinary about how the horses had run. If somebody made a big score on this, they pretty much did it by the skin of their teeth.
Moose - good training? How dare you? (kidding, of course).
I saw a guy on the infield (grassy knoll)...looked like a bankroll in his hand running away from the window quickly. His bankroll seemed to drop \"down and to the left\" from his hand, in spite of a gusty wind blowing right. I lost sight of him when he ducked behind the odds board - never to be seen again.
The Miller commission will investigate.
Do the MATH before you start screaming betting coup, fix, etc....
A $56 ticket eats up the entire pick 3 pool and a super that pays 40K is light?
Do Ya Think Disco Partner to hit the tri or super May have been a key on more than a few tickets before the Miller conspiracy?
Frank, I was joking.
Bill,
MY BAD, the response was to bloodlines post, it should have lined up with his not yours. I know better than to take you seriously 🎱 LOL
Roger nailed it appropriately, 5f turf sprints are as random as it gets and every competent cappers nightmare.
