Title: Winx
Post by: Tavasco on August 18, 2017, 11:41:35 PM
Winx got back to racing last night in Australia. I\'m not sure where to find a video of the replay but I think they will be playing it forever.

The mare went off at 1/9 with no place or show betting. The race was a 7F turf sprint around a turn at Randwick. She had seven (7) challengers.

When the gate opened the inside horse left like a Kawasaki Ninja super bike. Winx didn\'t. She had missed the start terribly. In nothing flat she trailed the field by four (4) lengths and the leaders by eight. Oh No! I heard going through my mind.

Jockey Hugh Bowman took a furlong or so to get the big girl untangled and into a gallop. There she was seemingly in no hurry to regain contact. Usually they do not go terribly fast early preferring instead to come home late like a bullet train.

The field began to stretch out around the turn while #8 Fox Play the 19/1 second choice tried to steal away. Winx the 6 y/o daughter of Street Cry who hadn\'t been out since April finally caught the back markers who were now beginning to do their best running as the field entered the turn. She angled out around the turn to be last exiting into the long stretch run.

Down the stretch she came, on the outside, in all her glory with an overpowing stride catching the leader by a short neck at the wire. Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat as they say. Now 28-22-3-0 $13 million in earnings.

Truly Jaw Dropping!

Winx runs down a tear-away leader to win the Chelmsford Stakes and makes it 19 in a row.

20 in a row. I am told she ran the last 1/8th in about 11.04.

I think the Aussies much prefer closers over front running winners. They love a horse that can \"really hit the line hard\".

I watched and bet this race last night. I got 35/1 as I recall on the front running speed horse. Winx was 1/9 again. But she beat him and was so relaxed the last 100 yards. She caught a pretty good one in the #1 who was closing well himself.

Its hard to know if she\'s beating any real runners. Yet $500K even Aussie dollars would lure somebody.

Phenomenal visually. Would love to see her in the BC mile ala Goldikova.
