Title: Dr. Melfi Yourself
Post by: TGJB on June 10, 2004, 01:28:32 PM
Patrick Suppes--

Read your post. What you don\'t seem to be getting is that I\'m not guessing-- I\'m working with the beaten length data myself, and checked it several times both before AND AFTER I saw what they did, and after they denied it. Their denial is absolutely meaningless to me-- this is a question of fact.

What would Dr. Melfi say about your acceptance of their categorical denial without an explanation? They have offered no explanation and made no change to the figures-- given that they completely denied getting the ground wrong for Touch Of The Blues in the BC a couple of years ago when anyone looking at the tape could see how wide he was, and that they later quietly changed the ground and the number when they thought no one would notice, what makes you think you can take their denial at face value? I know that if I was using Ragozin data I would damn well want an explanation.

So let\'s keep it simple, Patrick. Why don\'t you just ask Friedman publicly if they used two lengths as the gap between third and fourth in the Derby, or something else?
