Title: Golden Gate 5th
Post by: Al Caught Up on May 12, 2017, 08:43:16 PM
Hate to interrupt the brilliant Chautauqua between Chucky and Hells Bells, but did anybody catch the GG 5th today? The footnote writeup to the chart is a classic:

The head-on\'s remarkable. Bet that guy is glad he decided to wear his brown slacks to work.

Hard to believe it was as innocent as newspapers describe, i.e. employee thought the race was run on main turf. I have many questions? Why was he on the turf course alone? If he was checking for divots there is usually a handful of employees doing this .  So  why was he on his knees when they were turning for home? Also why didn’t  the track announcer see this and warn them in advance

A different situation. Baltimore is not immune to Klowns 1999 Preakness day.

Making it worst, that guy tried to slug Artax!

One of my favorite chart comments was from sometime in the 1980s, at Hollywood. A guy apparently was attempting suicide by stepping on the track. At the last minute, he lost his nerve, dropped the duffle bag he was carrying, and dove under the rail. The chart comment on the horse that won read, \"Driving, stomped daffle bag at wire.\"

I seem to remember that Cavonnier got a beach ball thrown at him in the Preakness in 1995 and it was in the comments (\'dodged beach ball\'?).

Mr Lee Chang had been \"on\" Chavez all day with a bad beat in the 4th and longshot \"getback\" lost wagers in the 5th and 6th. Come the 7th he came up with a new plan and went \"all in\" against Chavez and his odds on favorite Artax. When law enforcement inventoried his possessions during booking there in his pockets were $5,000 in to win tickets on Yes It\'s True and a May 15th, 1999 Kimchi and coffee stained copy of \"The Sheets\". But is a winning ticket still a winning ticket?

Three weeks later was the syndicate once again active on Belmont Stakes Day? with \"fix\" horse Yes its True winning the Grade II Riva Ridge. The handicapping world was in disbelief with a Belmont Stakes shocker that saw 30-1 winner Lemon Drop Kid and 60-1 place horse Vision and Verse. The heavy favorite Charismatic broke down in a career ending stretch drive as his jockey jumped off to support the horses damaged limb. A little more than a year later Antley was also gone.
