Title: Irap
Post by: boardedup on May 03, 2017, 03:55:47 PM
Not much buzz around here about this one.  Ran big in Bluegrass and repealed PJ, who many love.  A lot of talk about him filling in well and coming into his own.  Has been training as good as most anyone and drew great imo.

From the 9 hole he has speed inside, he should be able to use his own speed and strength/size to position himself where ever he wants, either on the lead or stalking like he did last out.  Solid pedigree for the distance.

in looking for reasons to land on others, I\'ve found him to be more and more intriguing.  He\'s another who I think will be dismissed at the windows. Worth a look?

Edit: To answer a question posed in another thread, I think he\'s  very likely to get the desired trip he wants, is he good enough is another question.

I like him a lot too....although I haven\'t seen his sheet yet. I\'m certain he can get the distance, but the big issue I have is this will be his third race since 3/26.

That is true. I realize the morning and afternoon are two different \"animals\" but the way he\'s been training and his general appearance now compared to a few months ago leads me to believe he\'s sitting on a performance.

I do think he benefited from the draw pretty well to, he should run his race, and the Bluegrass showed a toughness in the stretch the could serve him well Saturday. I\'ll use him on for sure, to what degree I haven\'t decided yet.

I like the horse as well, especially if speed is holding.
If you like him don\'t get talked off him.

JohnnyM:
Good luck with Irap. Would never try to talk anyone out of their opinion/pick. But if O\'Neal pulls this one off, he\'s an ever better magician than he was last year when he magically pulled a Derby win out of the hat with Nyquist.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

Thanks Joe I\'m sure not keying him
But if speed is holding and the pace is moderate to slow a lot
Of horses will be going wide. He just may get a 2w 2w trip
I\'ve wasted $$ on stupider things

That\'s a key point about pace and wide trips Ina big field.

And I think there\'s a decent chance of this happening as far as pace is concerned with the speed being inside anyway.
