Title: Girvin
Post by: boston on April 23, 2017, 08:22:20 AM
The other board is giving some of attention to Girvin.  It seems he must be much faster with their numbers.  One of the slowest with Thoro - but a nice enough pattern.

Last worked on 4/15. Scheduled work today was pushed to this Friday. That\'s an \"unlucky\" 13 day gap.

Ya think Mike Smith\'s agent is on the phone with Dale Romans yet?

Good Luck,
Joe B.

Leaving draw issues aside, I think he gets roughly same trip as, and has a similar pattern to, McCraken and Practical Joke - except he\'s slower.

Something is up with Girvin.  Sharp moved him from trackside to Keeneland over the weekend and now misses that work.

Reminds me of another California shipper coming in off a string of 4s - Arrogate.

Hysterically Brilliant!

I\'m thinking Girvin must be Richiebee\'s secret Derby horse. He didn\'t want it to get it that he and Arrogate had twin sheets!!! You\'re a slick one Bee :)

India here I come. maybe Jimbo can get us an audience with the Dalai Mush?

That is not correct, pattern of girvin is no way the same as those 2

If the other numbers have him two points faster in his last race or maybe his last two races - this one looks a lot like McCraken- but in the 20-1 range.

maybe on rags, they are similar, but not TG

On rags not even close to the same pattern as McCracken......and really not all that similar to PJ either

They\'re \"similar\", in that all three are sitting on a pair-ish top.

Don\'t have the sheets but may compare more to Gun Runner who had a terrific trip last year to run third. Highly doubt Girvin has the tactical speed to get nearly as good a trip. This horse runs 6-7th.

Except this one is out of Tale of Ekati. I\'m not a pedigree worshipper, but i do consider.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

I try to respect pedigree but most of the Derby runners this year have high DIs and CDs except for the slow ones. Girvin\'s dosage profile is better than most. That\'s not a reason to like him. Just putting him in context pedigree-wise.

Actually, for what it\'s worth, Girvin\'s DI and CD numbers are lower than Arrogate\'s.

Interesting. Probably why I don\'t worship them.

Also to consider, we are talking about (1) a freak and (2) this was Arrogate in late August.

Good Luck,
Joe B.

What\'s with the sudden rash of comparing everyone to Arrogate?  I mean, can we at least agree that Arrogate is in a different universe in relation to this crop of 3 year old\'s, all numbers/patterns aside?

I think it\'s stating the obvious, but you can\'t really expect any of these to all the sudden turn into the most dominant one going hands down like Arrogate did, regardless of a few similarities in number power of their current form cycle

That\'s exactly how Arrogate came into the Travers. Who knew before the race that he\'d jump forward 8pts. and become the super horse he did?

I respect the late August distinction but the \"freak\" thing is post race analysis. Anyone of these (some more likely than others) could jump forward to a huge figure and reveal himself as the next freak.
