Title: Charles Town Chew
Post by: FrankD. on April 22, 2017, 11:20:11 AM
Not quite spelled the same as the candy bar but it\'s a very slow day. So much so Richiebee said he\'s not playing, Fairmont called it the worst Saturday of the year, Jimbo hasn\'t bothered me and Belmont Bob is at the farmers market.

Anyway;
No pick 4 here so we have a stakes pick 3 of a pair of 2 turn 7f heats and a 3 turn 1 1/8.

The Robert Hilton:
JJ has the 9 hole on the 7/2 favorite and spots weight, no where near enough early foot for this heat not to get hung out on the first bend. Bull rings, I do  Love\'em. Poseidon\'s Prize has the rail, one of 2 locals in the heat and he\'s done this before. Cool Arrow had triple crown aspirations but is back to reality off a super work and gets an extra punch. Farley flashed a lot of speed in his only dirt race, green to brown with blinkers on.  1,3,5

The Sugar Maple:
Navarro with 4 in the mountains today spots weight but has JJ on this one and working razor sharp. Enough said if he made curfew on race night eve. 4

CT Classic:
Stanford won this event last year, has the rail and what\'s with equal weights for
4yr olds and up? Too short of a price to use in a 3 with Navarro. FD does not bet
deli\'s to win pickles.
Sunny Ridge, Matt King Coal & Imperative all have more than a punchers chance to beat the heavy favorite. Imperative was a tad shorter in the win pool than Stanford in this race last year with a 4W 3rd turn, not naming that rider. JJ today so he gets an extra punch. 2,4,5

Good luck,

Frank D.

Frank,
The only thing I like more than your race analysis is your ability to not mention certain things that make me react like the video I shared earlier today.

I think the first leg is the one where we can get some kind of price. Farley getting the blinkers with the surface switch I absolutely agree. I\'m using Cool Arrow and will toss in longshot Tipu Run and hope that somehow he can work out a trip from the 10 hole.

I\'ll go #5 Ultimate Holiday and #6 Kinsley Kisses in the 2nd leg.  The last wasn\'t good for UH but I think she runs a good one today close to the pace.

In the Classic its hard to toss Stanford for me. But as you say, if the short price wins the 2nd leg how can you play him. I\'ll use him with the 5 horse only from the previous race. Absolutely agree with you on Matt King Coal - love that name. Also using War Story, and will throw in one more based on name only. I almost added Imperative but the massive negative jock switch from last year makes him a toss.

#7 Bodhisattva will hopefully take me by the hand to the winners circle. My wife and I are heading to Las Vegas next weekend and will be going to the Steely Dan concert at the Venetian. So a must use today.

Good luck Frank. (Go Sharks and Rangers)

Paul you and Mrs Dubb going to check out the site of the new home of the
Raiders?

You and Frankie true lovers of the game to even look at CT entries, no less bet
the races, even on their biggest day. My hat is off to you guys.

\"Bodhisattva wont you show me
the sparkle in your China
the shine in your Japan...\"

Wow.

Richie, you got me on that one. Where\'s it from?

The Steely Dan song Bodhisattva, which P-Dub referenced, maybe from the Pretzel
Logic album.

It\'s from Countdown to Ecstasy.

But no worries, JB. We count on you for knowing what George Cukor would do.

Which reminds me, nobody came back with the \"Class my...eye\" reference.

Yeah, it sounded like Cary Grant but I couldn\'t place it. I don\'t think I\'ve ever seen The Philadelphia Story in its entirety. I need to remedy that. My reference was to a line by Billy Wilder, who said that the best thing a movie director in doubt could ever do would be to ask him/herself \"what would George Cukor do?\"

In which the cheap claimer played by Jimmy Stewart teaches the swells Grant and Hepburn a thing or two about love. So much for \"class\".

Haha no.

When they left the first time, I was still in high school so still very emotionally attached.

Now I\'m in my early 50\'s, and I have other stuff too worry about than where these guys will play. And I can\'t stand Marc Davis, who\'s life accomplishment is basically inheriting a billion dollar business that his father stole from his partners. Don\'t get me started.

A truly awful P3 sequence so far.

Nice job with the lyrics.
