Post by: Tavasco on March 11, 2017, 02:11:45 PM
Ah! Well P-Dub & TempletoPeck are reputedly onsite as well as some other T-generates what did the race look like from your perspective?

Wish I had a futures bet on Mastery!

Thank you for the info. That is, of course, the problem with a futures bets the fragile horses do need to stay healthy.

It just didn\'t even look like he broke a sweat. I didn\'t see M. Smith use the whip once.

However, I did see Mastery toss his tail in the stretch and the place horse really tossing his tail as if in pain?

I was visually impressed or unimpressed by the competition.

A true shame - that was the most impressive performance all year.

I don\'t want anyone else in the race.  Iliad all over the place in the lane.  Where did Gormley go?  Don\'t want anyone else but Tapwrit out of the Tampa race - and even he was hobby horsing it a bit.  Track was suped up, as evidenced by Stanford\'s track record.

Crazy year for derby favs.

Could be worse. Pletcher seems to be turning up strong. Would not discount McCraken. Training steadily. Missed one week.

Did find it kind of odd that Tapwrit got passed by everyone on the gallop out.  He was ridden to the wire, but maybe the jock pulled him up.  Anyway, it definitely flattered McCraken.

After next Saturday, I have a rebellious suspicion that most will be singing a different song about the Derby favorite.

On an unrelated note, has anyone noticed how poorly the former Baffert horses have fared since heading to other barns......

I\'m stunned.

Thoro-Graph likes GORMLEY? Did I read that correctly? Baffert is thinking a couple of months ahead? Oh.

Looks like a maybe the best prep field to date. Just saw Malagacy is in town for the Rebel.  Royal Mo, American Anthem . . . some Looking at Lee fans in here. I could see five horses getting action.

Expected more than nine horses for a 900k purse.

Besides the four you mentioned Petrov,Untrapped,Uncontested,Silver Dust and Silver Bullion make up the probables. They draw today so maybe a few more enter.

Pace looks legit with Uncontested,Malagacy stretching out and American Anthem.

I can see Untrapped moving forward some to hit the board again.
3rd race off the layoff, paired his two year old top in the Risen Star, rider switch to Irad can\'t hurt, and he worked well over the strip on Saturday.

I expect both of the Asmussens to run better here. Will be looking at which horse gets Santana Jr. They should both be decent odds in this group.

Asmussen broke up with Santana.  Luis Contreras is his \"guy\" right now.

I\'ve noticed that lately...Any idea why? I can\'t imagine that Santana won\'t have one of Asmussen\'s mounts in the Rebel though...he\'s the jock for both horses.

Stays on Lookin at Lee.
First ride for Asmussen since the Risen Star Feb 25th.

He was out a week with a shoulder issue but like Faimount said Asmussen was using Contreras even when Santana returned.Santana has no other rides for Asmussen the rest of the week besides Lookin at Lee.

Move to Ortiz on Untrapped for this race was announced not long after the Risen Star.
