Title: Chrome vs Arrogate
Post by: Silver Charm on January 24, 2017, 07:19:05 PM
Chrome has a big tactical speed advantage and I expect him to use it more effectively this race. Steal away on the turn and try and open up. Arrogate worked again last 5 wide down the backstretch. Ran out there in the BC but did ride the rail in the Travers. 8 works in 90 days. Maybe that\'s enough but GP can he very good to speed horses. Feel like Chrome will run and ride like they believe they can actually lose if they fool around!!

The draw makes it interesting.  Way outside post is awful at 9f at GP.  I don\'t think Arrogate is a particularly good gate horse.  From the rail in the Travers, he had a longer run to the first turn and American Freedom running interference on his outside.  He may end up having to eat some dirt in the first turn here.

It\'s a total send from the outside with none of those directly inside him with any early lick. Noble Bird is a freak show, can\'t worry about him.

I always thought Chrome was best at 1 1/8 despite his 1 1/4 resume. Probably why he hung in the first Classic and his Derby number was weak.

It\'s a match race from the get go; no need to to leave anything in the tank, unlike Arrogate, who has his entire career in front of him.

Neolithic will make the early part of the race interesting, especially breaking from post 3.
Couldn\'t make the lead in the Discovery at Aqueduct, whistled last at GP.

Pletcher\'s horses love the Florida sunshine, don\'t they?!?!

Good Luck,
Joe B.
